DAY 5 OF DRIVING OUR HOUSE TO ALASKA 🇨🇦🫎

Today we drove from Muncho Lake to Liard Hot Springs! We dry camped for the night, but our campsite included access to the hot springs 🙌🏼

While walking to the springs we spotted a MOOSE 😭🫎 The Alaska Highway animal count keeps growing!

When you live in an RV, sometimes traffic is literally at your front door. 😂🦬

We have some VERY exciting news! For those of you that don’t know, we sold our house and bought a 5th and are going to travel full time! Life is short and our kids our young. We are so excited for the adventures!

When planning our adventure I found social media lacked actual reviews and trips. So I’ll be posting here to help anyone in the future and to see where all we went!

Here is a list of our FAQ:
1. What about school? We are homeschooling using an umbrella school and The Good and The Beautiful Curriculum. What better way to learn about Mt Rushmore than actually visiting Mt Rushmore.
2. What happened to Tia aka Velvet? After begging her to travel with us she said no and found a beautiful place to live. We already miss her and pray she comes to visit us on the road.
3. Work? We Remote! Kinda 😅
4. Where you staying? #thousandtrails membership, #boondocking, and state parks AND MOOCHdocking… 👋🏻 hey mom and dad 😘
5. What about socializing your kids? Follow our journey I can’t wait to show you all the socializing these kids get.
6. Where you going first? TEXAS-FL- up the east coast and Vermont by fall 🍁.
7. What about your job at Isaiah 117 House? This was the hardest for me. I poured everything I had into the house and loved every second. God called me to the mission field of my home and I can’t ignore that. ♥️
8. How long will you be on the road? We’re following Gods plan here but we will reassess in a year. My goal is 5. Just because I don’t want to rush exploring!
9. Will you go back to Murfreesboro when you are done traveling? We don’t know! We love Murfreesboro and especially the people in it, but I feel like we will find another part of the US that we fall in love with and settle there.
10. Why? WHY NOT!? I saw something recently that said “let’s normalize working hard to be able to travel”. I say let’s normalize not working for the man and being stuck behind a computer. Let’s normalize doing what you love and making it work for your family.
11. We don’t have all the answers, where God guides He provides. We’re ready for an adventure we’re ready for the hardships, but most importantly we’re ready to reconnect as a family. ♥️ by @the_long_roadhome

DAY ONE of our truck troubles… 🥴🚛

One important part got cut from the video! The sweetest man, who was dealing with truck issues of his own, drove Josh AN HOUR AND A HALF into town and insisted on driving him back so he wouldn’t have to Uber. 🥹

A reminder that there are still some REALLY good people in this world. So incredibly thankful! ❤️

Alaska, you really are something else. 🏔️🤍

Leaving Valdez, we made our way toward Palmer for a quick overnight stop before continuing on to Seward!

Along the way, we explored Wrangell–St. Elias National Park, soaked in the mountain views, and enjoyed another beautiful drive through Alaska.

Nothing too crazy about this travel day, but that’s the thing about Alaska… even getting from one place to another is an adventure all its own. 🥹

I was looking at my wardrobe thinking I should probably switch it over to summer when it hit me…

IT’S FALL. 😂🍂

We left for Alaska in May and apparently just skipped an entire season.

No summer. Just extended spring with bears. 🐻😂

Hey Friends! Please pray for my momma Vickie Snyder. She’s been in and out of the hospital for months with pneumonia, but they finally figured out that her aortic heart valve is infected. She just went back to the hospital because she couldn’t breathe, right now they think the antibiotics aren’t working.

Please pray the doctors find an antibiotic that helps so she won’t need surgery. If you’re in the area and want to visit, send me a DM! I know it would lift her spirits! 🫶🏼 by @the_long_roadhome

I needed this to have a permanent spot on my feed 😭

Dally is SUCH a gift giver. 🥹 Whenever we have people over, he wants to make them a little basket of their favorite snacks, and he’s always digging through his candy drawer to find their favorites to give them.

I was gone for 1.5 hours today and came home to this. 🥹😭

We hiked to the toe of Athabasca Glacier in rain, fog and some SERIOUS wind… straight uphill. 😂

🥾 About 1.1 miles round trip
⛰️ Roughly 250 ft of elevation gain
🧊 Part of the massive Columbia Icefield
📉 The glacier has been retreating for more than a century, and the markers along the trail show just how far it’s receded. 🤯

Was it worth it? Ask me when I’m warm and my breath returns. 😂
