We’re looking for a barista to join us at The Mercat.

We’re a small team, so the role is a bit of everything: coffee to make, tables to clear, shelves to fill, regulars to get to know, and plenty of good things to eat along the way.

We use Obadiah coffee, with opportunities to learn more through training with the Obadiah team.

Experience making coffee is important, but so is being warm, capable, curious and happy to lend a hand wherever it’s needed.

Moments of joy from September.

The arrival of the plums, lower light, watching the seasons change and the leaves turn amber, more lamps, more candles, pink apple juice, recipe testing and tasting, welcoming guests, the first hot chocolate, newness in the shop for layering, and some wild and windy walks.

Can’t stop thinking about this one! Coming soon to our menu: an onion & sage galette with black olive tapenade. Juicy, flavour-packed and seriously moreish, served with a honey mustard side salad for the perfect pairing. taken in Culross, Fife by @the_mercat

An incredible day, as always, when @jess_elliott_dennison comes to visit.

We’re so excited about the menu changes that will carry us through the Autumn & Winter seasons. Think a hearty butternut squash soup with baby potatoes, @boldbeanco butter beans & lots of Parmesan, an incredible sage & onion galette with a black Olive tapenade, honey mustard side salads, a herby orzo pasta salad, and chocolate orange shortbread made with dark chocolate from @bareboneschocolate.

We’re finally adding sausage rolls to the menu too. Sausage, apple & fennel seed; insanely tasty.

We’ll be practising everything over the next couple of weeks and slowly starting to switch over the menu, so you’ll begin to see these new dishes appearing very soon. We can’t wait for you to taste.
