A day in the life.. South Devon Edition

Looking for something to do in the Salcombe, Kingsbridge, East Portlemouth area this winter and beyond? We've planned the perfet day for you

⛵️ Park in Salcombe and jump on the @the_salcombe_ferry_co over to East Portlemouth

☕️ Head up the the steps at the slipway and grab an organic coffee, homemade sausage roll or cloudy lemonade if you're feeling fruity 🍋 - either sit and enjoy the view or keep walking with your goodies

🚶‍♀️ Head towards Mill Bay @ntsouthdevon carpark and keep right, join the coastpath and walk towards Gara Rock (top local secret - the path forks.. the right is more scenic but more hilly, the left takes you over the top of the hills and is quicker)

🪨 Follow the path to gara rock, and make sure to snap some scenery on the way 📷 almost everywhere you turn is beautiful!

SECRET TIP - when you reach Gara rock, make sure to visit the little hut, at the top of the hill on the left- the best window view in the world!

🍸 Cocktail on the terrace if the weather allows! The hotel is under new management and they are planning some great changes. Wonderful staff too!

🍽 Keep walking inland towards Rickham and head to our sister spot Village farm. A beautiful artisan barn with farm shop, artisan shops, boutiques and more! Have some delicious lunch with homemade drinks, and make sure to pick up a sourdough (if there's any left!)

👋 Say goodbye to village farm and head back to @the_oldstable straight down the hill past the church. When you reach the lookout at the bottom of the village, use the steps straight beyond for a shortcut!

🌊 Have a seaview sauna and cold plunge booked at the old stable for when your arrive (the sauna will be open Friday - Monday from November) book via www.villagefarmdevon.com warm up with yet another delicious coffee

⛵️ Wait for your ferry ride home!

"What is the best way to visit The Old Stable Cafe? "

Hop on the Salcombe → East Portlemouth ferry and make a little adventure of it. 🌊

Arrive for the sauna, stay for the organic coffee ☕️, and definitely don’t leave without trying one of our homemade pasties 🥐

With an amazing sea view thrown in, it’s pretty hard to think of a better way to spend a day on the south west coast.

Jane Baxter cooked up a storm last night at our first guest chef evening at @the_oldstable

It wouldnt be an outdoor British eating event without a spot of rain, rallying umbrellas and cuddling close to ahelter from the passing clouds 😂

Katie & John were cooking up a storm on our @biggreenegguk at the old stable tonight

Lamb ribs, pork medallions & roasted aubergine deliciously dressed with our housemade salads were delivered to our lovely diners tonight, alongside with a few special octopus sides!

Tomorrow we close from 4.30pm to prepare for our guest chef night, but see you for our bbq as normal from 4.30pm on Thursday!

Could this be the most beautiful BBQ spot in South Devon? 🌊🌞

We were kindly invited to try a BBQ evening at @the_oldstable and it’s safe to say this place is pretty special ✨

Set in East Portlemouth, overlooking the Salcombe Estuary, The Old Stable is the perfect place to spend a summer evening with great food, delicious drinks and views you could sit and look at for hours 🤩

Their BBQ nights run every evening throughout summer from 4:30pm-7:30pm (weather permitting), so if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy dinner with a view, this one is definitely worth adding to your list ✍🏻

Very dog-friendly too, which is always a bonus for us 🐶
