River City Rhythm 2026: Within These Walls

I couldn't have asked for a better rookie season in drum corps. If you'd have told Keaton he was marching cymbals in outdoor he would have probably smacked you. But with this season, I truly found a new love for the instrument and the art they can create. I'm so truly thankful for everyone involved with this summer that I had especially my section we wrote some pretty cool stuff, and I know they're all off to do great things. With that im signing off, RCRCDBCTS, WWFO, Goodnight.

Veritas,

It took me a while to think about what I was going to say for this but Ill just put down my thoughts at this time.

This was my first season of independent marching, and it was at the place I wanted to start since sophomore year of high school. If you would have told me I would have been in the front though I wouldnt have believed you whatsoever, as this was my first time ever being in a front ensemble. Mentally it was very up and down, looking back I think I was too harsh on myself, I was surrounded by some if the best musicians Ive ever met and then there was me, a guy on rack who'd never played percussion in his life. I really doubted my capabilities as a person and as a musician, thinking I'm not good enough to be a part of the culture or the ensemble. But looking back I dont think I made a mistake, I do think in some ways I came out a better person than going in even though it wasnt what I originally thought I'd get put of it. But anyways thats life, and we truly never know where its going to lead us or the opportunities that will be in our hands. Regardless I am eternally greatful I decided to take up the opportunity regardless of the discomfort going in.

Thank you to all of the people involved who made this opportunity so special, firstly the education staff. Thank you so much for putting the trust in me to let me be involved with the ensemble this season despite my background as a wind and cymbal player. The lessons and bonds created and given this season will truly last the rest of my life and I cannot wait to put these teachings forward.

To the members, you guys made it all worth it. These weekends definitely weren't easy, I got a real punch in the face with "work life balance" with this season but everything we went through, we went through together and there truly is something special there. Extremely greatful I was able to share those long rehearsals, funny jokes, and bonding with the best group in open class. I cant wait to see everyone going forward knowing we shared this season together and what else is to come.

With that I think ill close this book, thank you all so much for everything. I cant wait for what happens next

Sneak Peek of Summer 2025 -> Now

So far, Purdue has been incredible. I've been having a good time with all my classes and clubs and an even better time with the Boiler Beats Drumline! Getting to play at all of the tailgating and the stadium before the games is so much fun! Purdue definitely isn't playing around with the academics, but im locked.

Senior year summer was they best summer I could have asked for, got my diploma, got to spend plenty of time with all of my favorite people, and even got to be a visual tech for a marching band!!!

Can't wait for what comes next! Hail Purdue 🚂 by @the_orff

Most importantly, thank you to @isabel_dawes_
