For decades, Western media and political leaders criticised Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and SAVAK, focusing heavily on their repression of revolutionary groups, including Islamist and Marxist movements.

Yet the Shah repeatedly warned of the dangers posed by radical Islamism, political extremism and the alliance between the radical Left and Islamist revolutionaries.

His warnings were largely dismissed by many of his Western critics.

France was among the countries that criticised the Shah’s approach to maintaining security and confronting revolutionary movements. It was also France that provided Ayatollah Khomeini with a base in exile before his return to Iran in 1979.

Today, as France confronts unrest, political extremism and growing concerns over public security, the Shah’s warnings invite renewed examination.

THE IRONY OF HISTORY IS DIFFICULT TO IGNORE.

The country that once lectured Iran on freedom and security now faces its own difficult questions about the balance between civil liberties, public safety and the rule of law.

The Shah warned that extremism would not remain confined to Iran.

Nearly five decades after the Islamic Revolution, the consequences of 1979 continue to shape Iran, while Western societies face challenges of their own.

THE QUESTION REMAINS: DID THE WEST LEARN FROM IRAN’S HISTORY, OR IS IT REPEATING SOME OF THE SAME MISTAKES?

History deserves to be remembered, examined and understood.

A WARNING FROM IRAN’S HISTORY THAT EUROPE CANNOT AFFORD TO IGNORE.

@sebastiantynkkynen, Member of the European Parliament, reflects on Iran before the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the devastating consequences that followed Khomeini’s rise to power.

He highlights how sections of the Western intellectual establishment and the political Left supported or underestimated Khomeini, becoming what he describes as “useful fools” in a revolution whose consequences they failed to foresee.

The result? Decades of repression, mass executions, restrictions on education and personal freedoms, and millions of Iranians forced to leave their homeland.

His warning is clear: Europe risks repeating the mistakes of 1979 by failing to recognise the dangers of extremist ideologies that threaten the very freedoms Western democracies are built upon.

History should be a lesson, not a mistake repeated.

THE SHAH OF IRAN’S WARNING.
A WARNING THE WORLD SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO.

Decades ago, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi warned of the dangers that lay ahead for Iran and the consequences of allowing extremism to take hold.

Today, nearly half a century after the 1979 revolution, his words carry a haunting significance.

A nation once moving towards modernisation and progress has endured decades of repression, executions, persecution and the systematic destruction of fundamental freedoms under the Islamic Republic.

THE WORLD SHOULD HAVE LISTENED.

History cannot be rewritten, but its lessons must never be forgotten.

Iran deserves to reclaim the freedom, dignity and prosperity that generations have been denied.

IRAN WILL RISE AGAIN.

💚🤍❤️

🇫🇷 143 YEARS OF HISTORY. DESTROYED IN A MATTER OF HOURS.

LIMOGES, FRANCE — OCTOBER 2026.

Footage circulating online appears to show the historic Limoges City Hall engulfed in flames, its iconic spire collapsing.

A PIECE OF FRANCE’S HISTORY, REDUCED TO ASHES.

For Iranians, the importance of protecting a nation’s heritage runs deep.

For nearly five decades, we have watched the Islamic Republic suppress aspects of our ancient Persian identity, neglect historic treasures and attempt to rewrite our history.

A NATION IS MORE THAN ITS GOVERNMENT. ITS HISTORY BELONGS TO ITS PEOPLE.

There is a fundamental difference between peaceful protest and destruction.

Iranians risk their lives demanding freedom, dignity and human rights. Their struggle must never be confused with violence against a nation’s heritage.

PROTEST IS A RIGHT. DESTROYING HISTORY IS NOT.

Whether in France or Iran, our heritage belongs to generations past, present and future.

ONCE DESTROYED, IT CAN NEVER TRULY BE REPLACED.

FRANCE, KHOMEINI AND THE IRONY OF HISTORY. 🇫🇷

In 1978, after Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was expelled from Iraq under Saddam Hussein’s regime, France welcomed him and provided him with refuge in Neauphle-le-Château, just outside Paris.

This location became an ideal base for international journalists to reach Khomeini, giving him an extraordinary platform to spread his revolutionary message to the world.

Following the collapse of the Pahlavi government in February 1979, Khomeini returned to Iran with France’s assistance, aboard an Air France flight, and seized power.

WHAT FOLLOWED CHANGED IRAN FOREVER.

In the years that followed, France maintained relations with the Islamic Republic, despite criticism of its double standards and its failure to give sufficient attention to the voices of the Iranian people.

NOW, THE IRONY OF HISTORY IS IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE.

In this archival footage from 1980, Khomeini can be heard urging the Iraqi people to rise up against Saddam Hussein’s government.

He calls on them to paralyse the economy, refuse to pay taxes, withhold payments for water and electricity, organise demonstrations, march through the streets and even attack government property.

And now, decades later, France itself is witnessing the very kinds of protests and civil unrest that Khomeini once encouraged the Iraqi people to undertake.

THE SAME FRANCE THAT GAVE KHOMEINI REFUGE AND AN INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM IS NOW CONFRONTING SCENES THAT ECHO HIS OWN WORDS.

For the Iranian people, who have lived with the consequences of the 1979 revolution for nearly five decades, the historical irony is difficult to overlook.

HISTORY HAS A WAY OF COMING FULL CIRCLE.

HIS NAME WAS ALI SINA MOSTAFAVI. HE DESERVED TO LIVE.

A musician. A mountaineer. An animal lover. A young man with dreams, passions and an entire life ahead of him.

Ali Sina loved music, nature, animals and the simple beauty of being alive.

But his life was taken from him.

Ali Sina Mostafavi was executed by the Islamic Republic following his reported involvement in protests in Iran.

And heartbreakingly, his story is far from an isolated one.

The Islamic Republic continues to execute people at an alarming rate. Behind the numbers are real people. Sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, artists, students and ordinary Iranians whose lives matter.

Every execution leaves behind a family, an empty chair, an unanswered goodbye and a future that will never be lived.

HOW MANY MORE LIVES MUST BE TAKEN BEFORE THE WORLD ACTS?

How much longer will the international community remain silent while the Islamic Republic continues its executions, repression and human rights abuses?

How many more families must bury their loved ones? How many more mothers must beg the world to hear their cries?

Condemnation is not enough. Statements of concern are not enough. The Iranian people need meaningful international action, accountability and consequences for those responsible.

The world cannot continue to look away.

Ali Sina Mostafavi was not just another name on a growing list.

He was a human being who loved life.

Remember his face. Remember his name.

🕯️ ALI SINA MOSTAFAVI

May his memory never be forgotten.

A message from inside Iran. A message the world needs to hear.

On a bridge in Iran, a handwritten banner carries a direct message to President Donald Trump:

“They’re afraid. They’re running. We stand with you. Keep going.”

Behind these words is a nation that has endured decades of oppression, executions, imprisonment, and unimaginable suffering.

The Iranian people deserve to be heard. Their courage deserves to be seen. And their fight for freedom must never be forgotten.

The world must listen.

⸻

TRUMP, MEET PAHLAVI. THE VOICES FROM INSIDE IRAN CONTINUE.

PART TWO | VOICES FROM INSIDE IRAN

More videos. More voices. More Iranians sending the same message to President Donald Trump.

“TRUMP, MEET PAHLAVI.”

These videos were sent from inside Iran to Armin Navabi, carrying messages intended for President Trump and calling on him to meet Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi.

Some speak in English, others in Persian. Some thank President Trump for his support, while others express solidarity with America and Israel.

But their central request remains the same.

These are people speaking from inside a country where openly opposing the Islamic Republic can carry devastating consequences.

Behind every message is a real person choosing to make their voice heard despite the risks.

This is Part Two of our collection, sharing more of the messages sent to Armin Navabi from inside Iran.

Their voices deserve to be heard. Their courage deserves to be recognised.

🕯️ WORLD DAY AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY | 10 OCTOBER

IN IRAN, EXECUTION IS NOT JUST A PUNISHMENT. IT IS A WEAPON OF FEAR.

A weapon used by the Islamic Republic to silence dissent, crush resistance and terrorise an entire nation into submission.

Behind every execution is a human being. A son. A daughter. A mother. A father. Someone who was loved, someone who had dreams, someone whose family will never be the same again.

Some were arrested for protesting. Some were denied fair trials. Some were tortured into confessions. Others remain on death row, not knowing whether tomorrow will be their last.

And while the world marks a day against the death penalty, families across Iran are living with its horror every single day.

Mothers wait desperately for news. Families fear every phone call. Prisoners are transferred into solitary confinement, sometimes never to return.

These are not just names on execution lists. These are lives. These are families. These are our people.

The Islamic Republic may believe that executions will silence the Iranian people, but every life taken is another reason the world must refuse to look away.

Today, we remember those whose lives have been stolen, stand with those facing execution and demand an end to the killing.

STOP EXECUTIONS IN IRAN.

SILENCE IS NOT AN OPTION.

🕯️ Their names must never be forgotten.

“TRUMP, MEET PAHLAVI!” A MESSAGE FROM INSIDE IRAN.

Different people. Different locations. One message.

Written on pieces of paper, Iranian banknotes and handwritten signs, these messages have been sent from inside Iran to Armin Navabi.

“Trump, meet Pahlavi.”

Behind every message is someone choosing to make their voice heard despite the risks of speaking out under the Islamic Republic.

They are calling on President Donald Trump @potus to meet with Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi @officialrezapahlavi.

These are not messages from Iranians living safely abroad. They are coming from people inside Iran itself.

Their faces may be hidden, but their message is clear.

The world needs to hear their voices.
