We're back with a new $1.99 course, The Dark Side of a Bright Future, presented by Sam Bloch, environmental journalist and author of Shade: The Promise of a Forgotten Natural Resource.

Shade can play a vital role in enhancing livability, human health, and sustainability, especially in historically temperate cities that face a future of extreme heat. Learn how awnings, trees, and more thoughtful urban design can cool the city, reduce emissions, and make our public spaces safer and more accessible to all.

Completing this course will earn you 1 AIA & 1 PHI CEU. This course is a recording of our PHN Presents event from last summer, but if you attended live, you can still earn CEUs by completing this course. Check it out with the link in our bio and stay tuned for more $1.99 CEUs coming soon!

How does Passive House stack up?

Watch Marine Sanchez from RDH Building Science walk us through the energy comparison between Passive House, IECC, and ASHRAE in Climate Zones 1-7. While standard code scenarios ranged from 29-57 kBtu/ft2/yr, Passive House scenarios held steady at around 13 kBtu/ft2/yr.

In an unpredictable world, Passive House is the energy standard you can count on to deliver stable, efficient results—no matter what climate you're in.

See the full presentation and check out the report on our website with the link in our bio.

Join us online NEXT TUESDAY, Sept. 22nd at Noon CT for AIA/PHI CEs and a presentation all the way from France: Martin Paquot (topophile) will present:

"From Straw Houses to Straw Buildings: Lessons from France"
France’s century-old straw-building tradition—and its relevance to American Passive House practitioners—is anything but new. Drawing on examples documented by Topophile, Martin will examine straw’s thermal performance, low-carbon potential, agricultural origins, and integration with wood and other natural materials. He will also explore how France’s building regulations and professional rules recognize and enable straw construction. Connecting this experience with today’s high-performance construction goals, the talk offers practical inspiration for healthier, lower-carbon, climate-resilient buildings using local materials affordably. #naturalbuildingmaterials #passivehouse #highperformancebuilding #strawbaleconstruction #lowcarbonbuilding @passivehouse_international @the_phnetwork Meeting link in bio. by @the_phnetwork

There's never been a better time to get started. Fall cohorts kick off on September 23rd. Join with the link in our bio.
