Film photography is more than a retro process or a nostalgic throwback. It's a hands-on creative process that encourages us to slow down, think intentionally about every single frame, and reconnect with the art of making photographs. There's no relying on AI or software editing as a crutch. Instead, you're working with light, chemistry, and your own creative decisions. You're literally painting with light and printing with chemistry.

Join professional photographer and darkroom artist Amy Jo Edwards for a two-hour introduction to the world of analog photography, from choosing a film camera and loading your first roll to developing negatives and creating traditional darkroom prints.
Through live demonstrations, Amy will walk attendees through the process of shooting, developing, and printing film, sharing the equipment, techniques, and creative possibilities. Attendees will see a live film development demonstration and explore different photographic papers and printing methods.
Amy will also share how she incorporates 35mm and medium-format film into her professional wedding photography, personal projects, and fine-art gallery work. From creating handmade darkroom prints to taking a few intentional minutes at every wedding to make art, she'll explore how film continues to influence her creative approach.
Whether you're curious about shooting your first roll or looking to bring film into your existing photography business, this presentation offers a practical and creative look at the analog process.

About the Presenter

Amy Jo Edwards is the owner and photographer behind The Tattooed Bride Photography, based in Winter Park, Florida. A full-time professional photographer since 2021, Amy specializes in alternative weddings, elopements, and documentary-style storytelling, incorporating both digital and analog photography into her work.

She came to the studio to capture beautiful photographs, but what we created was so much more: a memory of the moment their family grew, their hearts expanded, and a new little life changed everything.

A love that will grow with every passing year, a tiny hand that will one day grow big, and a moment they will never get back, but will forever be able to hold onto through these photographs.

Had the opportunity to teach members of the Professional Photographers of Central Florida some lighting techniques I use when working with dancers.

Ballerinas don't use words to tell their stories. Their art form is how they communicate.

Wanted to show our members some interesting ways to capture her movement to best tell her story. Which meant they had to see the moves first to learn when would be best to take the picture.

It was a great experience and one I would gladly teach again.

Lexi is the ballerina in frame and she was an absolute joy to work with!
