This month we’re celebrating Tucson Latino-owned businesses like The Quesadillas, who are helping us create jobs and bring vibrancy to our beautiful, desert City.

@the_quesadillas is a mesquite-style Sonoran restaurant on Tucson’s east side founded by Marcos Barragan, who has spent decades perfecting his famous ribeye taco.

Home-made tortillas are the essence of each quesadilla, of which they offer more than a dozen types, including rib-eye, chorizo, veggie, al pastor, chicken, breakfast-style, the quesabirria (served with broth), and many more.

After many years in the industry, Marcos Barragan is getting ready to hand the reins over to his daughter, Alex. “My hope is that every guest who eats at Las Quesadillas feels that same sense of tradition, culture, and love that we put into every dish,” says Alex.

The Quesadillas is located at 2418 N. Craycroft across from Tucson Medical Center on the corner of Grant and Craycroft and on Instagram @the_quesadillas. by @the_quesadillas

Alex and her dad Marcos are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet! They make just about everything from scratch here, from the roasted peppers to the salsas and tortillas. The mesquite grilled and smoked carne asada was the best I ever had. We also enjoyed the beer marinated barbacoa, the pastor (with pineapple salsa from the salsa bar), the QuesaBirria, and the chicken bacon quesadilla. I even caught a young foodie trying to eat 2 giant Sonoran hot dogs topped with ribeye! Alex asked how much I charge for my videos, and I just told her I’d do it for tacos 😝 I think I came out ahead in the deal! Stop driving by this place and check it out ASAP! Ayyyyeeee my taste buds are still singing for @the_quesadillas. The parking is a little tough but there is plenty of space inside and it is worth ittttt!!!! By now most of you know I am particular about my tortillas and the crispy burn marks let you know they are done right. It was so tasty and I would cross town for that veggie quesadilla. It was the perfect sautee on the veggies to give you a good crunch and an excellent cheese pull. So good.

Some of you might have heard the news already about a family of four passing away last weekend, while driving in Mexico. The family was from here, Tucson, AZ. Jose Tanco was a physical therapist across the street at TMC. He was a loyal customer. He would come in 3-4 times a week and made an impact to all of us who work here. He would always bring new people and introduce them to our food or hang out with his besties from work and eat here. They would split a Sonoran Hot Dog for dessert😊 We had a great pleasure knowing Jose and his family and they will be dearly missed.

We will have a fundraiser for him and his family THIS TUESDAY 2/27. A percentage of the orders will be donated to them to help with funeral expenses. We will be offering DELIVERY as well in case you can’t make it. by @the_quesadillas
