Hello booklovers✨ Halloween is approaching so what better time to share some spooky book recommendations?!

Witches, evil spirits, eerie settings - these books are perfect to read on these October nights, when the wind is howling and the rain pouring, to help you dive into the Halloween atmopshere🎃

I know it's been a hot minute since the last time I posted but life happens and I didn't have the mental energy to create new content or even reading.
I was diagnosed with Autism, at the age of 26, after a life spent feeling out of place. I was in a severe phase of burnout to the point that it was hard for me to even function in everyday life. Now I am slowly trying to find my way again but I am happy to be back here and share my passion and excitemenent for books with you.

QOTD: What's a super hyped book that you still have to read?

Divine Rivals has been one of Bookstagram biggest phenomenon and I've seen so many people obsessing over it that sometimes it feels like I am the only one that hasn't pick it up yet😂 I'm very curious to read this book and see if it will live up to the expectations! It's definitely going to be one of my Spring reads✨

Sorry I wasn't very active latley but University is sucking the life out of me and my mental health is affected 😭

QOTD: What is an incomplete Fantasy series that you wouldn't esitate to recommend to someone?✨

It's going to be my 2024 bookish mission to convince people to pick up This Woven Kingdom, Tahere Mafi's latest thrilling fantasy series!

The story follows Alizeh, a long-lost Jinn queen forced to live hidden as a servant for human royalty, and Kamran, the hot-blooded prince who is about to take on his shoulder the burden of the crown. But little did he know, that the servant girl with strange eyes he fell in love with it's also the one destinated to wreck him and his kingdom.

This Woven Kingdom made me fell in love with Tahere Mafi's poetical writing style: words smoothly flow on the pages and you get carried away into this rich and atmopsheric world inspired by Persian mythology.
The author spins a intricate tale full of twist and revelations that will have you devour one page after another. The characters are complex and so incredibly human.
It is one of those series that it's hard to put down, you don't want to break the spell and go back to your normal, boring life where there aren't any dragons or hot damned princes.

What you can expect from this series:

✨Slow-burn enemies to lovers/ love triangle (it's complicated)
✨Political intrigues
✨High stakes
✨Middle Eastern folklore
✨Devil bargains and ominous prophecies
✨Female MC that looks like a cinnamon roll but could (and would) kill you.

The first two books in the series, This Woven Kingdom and These Infinite Threads, are out while the third book, All This Twisted Glory, will hit the shelves on February 15❤️

QOTD: Are you a "seasonal" reader?✨

I love matching my reads to the season! When winter comes and the temperatures drop, I love taking refuge in a cozy book, one that feels like hot chocolate drunk in front of a lit firplece. I love reading books set in frost-covered lands with endless white forests and snow-capped mountains.
That's why Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries feels just like the perfect read for the season!
The book follows Emily Wilde, a young professor who travels to a small (fictional) Norwegian island to study faerie folklore. She'll have to deal with mysteries, secretes and an handsome yet infurating academic rival!
I honestly can't wait to dive into this cozy and whimsical Fantasy✨

QOTD: What is the last book you bought?✨

I went to a new bookstore the other day and in the (tiny) english books section I found a lonley copy of The Love Hypothesis! Now I don't usually read contemporary romance but, since one of my goals for 2024 is trying out new genres, I decided to give it a shot. Also, I already had my eyes on this book because it has been all over bookstagram for a while, so now I'm curious to see if it will live up to the hype😉💗

QOTD: If you celebrated it, how was your Christmas? And what are you reading during the holidays?

I spent a nice and relaxing Christmas with my family: I had breakfast with my mom's family at my grandparents house and I brought my freshly made Christmas cookies that I spent the night making😂 It's a tradition that I've been following since I was little and some of my favorite memories are releted to it: I used to bake cookies with my mom on Christmas eve's night and playing jolly music in the background. Then, once they were ready, we would leave some on a plate under the Christmas tree with a glass of milk for "Santa". Now I am 25, my mom passed away, but it's still a tradition that I like to carry on (minus the part where I leave the cookies for Santa obv😂).
I had lunch at my paternal grandmother's house and I ended the day by making a nice walk at my local lake and admiring the beautiful sunset.

I am currently reading Throne of the Fallen and I am loving it! Even though it is not exactly a Christmas read😂 I love how this book explore and expand the worldbuilding of Kingdom of the Wicked: we get to see new settings, new kingdoms and new interesting characters and enemies. Envy is every bit of the morally gray and sinful prince that I expected him to be, always scheming and plotting his next move. I am also loving the romance, the ongoing seduction game between envy and Camilla and their chemistry💚

QOTD: What was the last book you read?✨

There are few things that I love more than picking up a good witchy book when the weather is cold and gloomy outside, curled up in a blanket with a freshly brewed potion- ehm... I mean tea😉 That's why Bring Me your Midnight by Rachel Griffin felt just like the perfect choice to start the cozy season in the better way!

The story follows Tana, a young witch who is fated to marry the governor's son, securing an allience between the witches who live on her island and the humans on the mainland. She's never even daring dreaming of a life different from the one that has been decided for her; or that is until she meets Wolfe, a mysterious boy who claims to come from another coven, one that was belived to be extinct for years. Tana knows that she should stay away from him, that he is a danger to her and her community, but there is an invisible force that keeps pulling her toward him. Soon, she will have to choose whether to fulfil her duties or follow her hearth and maybe, for the first time in her life, be free.

This is a ROMANCE fantasy, and I put emphasis on the romance part because, althought the worldbuilding and the magic system are pretty strong and detailed, the plot focuses mainly on Tana and Wolfe's love story.
Griffin's writing style is poetical and it really transport you into this lush and atmospherical world.
The pace is a bit too slow and there are more than a few scenes that, if being cut, would take away absolutely nothing to the story.
Overall it was a fun and pleasant read but I was expecting something more. Will I read other works from Rachel Griffin? Of course, I am sucker for everything that involves witches😂❤️

Rating: 3.5✨

P.S. Sorry if I disappeared for while but November has been such a busy month for me: I had to juggle a new job, a theatre project, university and my usual health problems😭

QOTD: How are you going to spend your Halloween?🖤

Happy Halloween everyone🎃 Today I had so much fun: I made Halloween cookies and, even though they didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, I am still kinda proud of them😂 Then I went to a little Halloween event at the lake near my hometown and it was really fun! The lakeside promenade was decorated with ghosts, jack-o'-lanterns, spieder webs and even a big vampire coffin. Spooky music was played out loud and volunteers in costumes organized fun games for the kids.
And the weather conditions definitely contributed to create the right atmosphere: a strong, cold wind stirred the lake waters and a bright moon shone in the sky surrounded by stars and black clouds.

And now I'll end the day by reading a spooky book at home, with a hot bevarage and a warm blanket. And what better book than Anatomy by Dana Schwartz to match the spooky vibes of the night?! It's a gothic tale set in the Edinburgh of the early 19th century, where a willful female surgeon needs to work together with a body snatcher to uncover the city's darkest mysteries.
The ones that you see in the photo are the endpapers of the Italian edition of Anatomy and I am obsessed with them! They look so gothic and spooky😍

QOTD: Do you have any book recommandations with strong Autumn vibes?🍂

A Far Wilder Magic was one of my favorite reads of the year and it is the perfect book to fully dive into the autumn atmosphere.
In a gothic small town flanked by craggy cliffs and tall forests of redwoods, a lonley but talented sharpshooter must team up with a charismatic alchemist apprentice to win the mythical Halfmoon hunt.
This book has it all: a deeply atmospheric worldbuilding, an engaging plot and a heartwarming slow-burn romance. If you're looking for some new books to add to your Autumn TBR I really suggest you to check this one out🧡

I also wanted to apologize for my recent absence here on bookstagram but I had a couple of rough weeks. I've had some health issues that required me to rush to the E.R. My mood was also underground because this is my favorite time of the year and l couldn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked. However, I was feeling a bit better in the last two days and today I even managed to take a little walk in the woods near my house. And obviously I also took the opportunity to take some bookstagram photos! The forest in autumn is so lovely and atmopsheric, it brings me so much peace🍂

Hello booklovers 🖤 How are you? There is an abnormal heat wave in my country and the temperature reach 30° in certain times of the day, wich is NOT normal for October (at least not in my region). But despite that, today I took my first autumn walk in the woods with my family and it was amazing immersing myself in nature and seeing the first autumn leaves falling to the ground🧡

QOTD: What is a book that you DNF but are willing to give it a second chance?

For me it's One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig. I started reading it last year but then I got into a reading slump😭 However, since the dark, spooky vibes of this book are perfect for the season, I think that I will give it a second chance🖤
