Catching up on #minijoymonth with @vintagedollhouseshop and wanted to share a little piece of my journey into the world of miniatures ✨ This was my very first dollhouse, built about a year ago and it’s what completely hooked me.
The first photo shows the (mostly!) finished space—are mini homes ever truly done? The second captures that just-moved-in moment, right after the build was complete but before I added the wooden beams, which were made from old reclaimed wood I found. I made many mistakes with the build, stumbled a lot but I’m so happy with the journey it took me on. ❤️

It started with a harmless crush on miniatures…and then about a year ago, I gave in to my long-standing love of all things tiny and treated myself to a Potter dollhouse from @littlevintagelane. It was the first thing I’d built in ages, and it completely reignited my obsession with tiny worlds. Here’s the start of me turning the kitchen into a rural English home. 🫖✨

A few years ago, my heart got completely hooked on miniatures. This past year, I was fortunate (and frivolous) enough to go to @igmaguildschool where I met so many wonderful people who share that same deep love for miniatures.

One of those people was the wonderful @madarbyshire , whose article came out today. I urge you to read it. She captures so beautifully the essence of why so many of us are drawn to this wonderful art form, and why it means so much to so many people.

Happy day 8 of #MiniJoyMonth2026
Today’s host is @miniatureswithmelissa and the theme is ‘How It Started’.

I love this photo because it shows my first ever mini loaf of bread (on the left) alongside my second (on the right). Ahem… as you can see, the first one wasn’t exactly my finest work!

But it sparked a tiny obsession, and I ended up loving making miniature food so much that it set me on the path to minis.

So much fun to look back and see where it all started.

Today’s theme is Good Enough to Eat, and it’s my turn to host! To celebrate, I’ve made a tiny serving of one of my ultimate comfort foods: fish and chips! As a child, I remember eating fish and chips doused in malt vinegar in the car, looking out at a grey, rainy beach and thinking it was life at its best.

Happy first day of Mini Joy Month!

I’m so excited for this month. Last year I connected with some lovely mini friends and discovered there was a whole world of mini obsessed friends out there.

Today’s theme is “Greetings From”, so hello from Vancouver, Canada! Im Fiona, 👋I’m usually working full time as a creative director, parenting my socks off, and somehow finding time to make miniatures in between. I don’t really have spare time, but when I do, making minis is ridiculously therapeutic and completely gratifying.

I’m the person who gets itchy feet for autumn by the end of August, and I’m really feeling it this year. I’m eagerly awaiting crisp, cooler mornings and rainy days.

Last year, I made my very first miniature roombox, a little kitchen created for the Pender Island Fall Fair. I was so inspired by the idea of finally showing my work to people that I started dreaming up what I would make for this year almost immediately.

I eventually settled on a farm stand. There are so many charming little stands like this around Pender Island, and they’re one of the things that make the Gulf Islands feel so magical.
So this is my entry for this year: a little homage to the Gulf Islands in all their autumn glory. 🍎🎃
