We’ve had an overwhelming number of residency applicants, and we’re so excited by the artists who want to spend time making at The Weaving Workshop.

In response, we’ve created two different residency options so that more artists can find a way to work, make, and become part of our community.

SHORT RESIDENCY
Our Short Residency offers one month of studio access for three artists each month, giving artists dedicated time to develop their work while working alongside one another in our studio.

This residency is designed for artists looking for concentrated studio time and an opportunity to contribute to the life of our artist-run school through studio stewardship, community participation, and public engagement.

LONG RESIDENCY
Our Long Residency is a six-month studio residency designed primarily for local artists who want a consistent place to work and become part of an ongoing creative community.

For Long Residency, participants rent studio/shelf space from The Weaving Workshop for $250/month and commit to a six-month term. The $250 monthly fee is a studio rental fee, not a stipend or payment to the resident.

Long Residents receive dedicated shelf space, access to the studio and shared tools and equipment, and the opportunity to make The Weaving Workshop part of their regular studio practice.

✨ BOTH RESIDENCIES INCLUDE:

• Studio access seven days a week, except during scheduled classes and occasional studio events
• Discounted prices on materials
• Access to shared studio tools and equipment
• The opportunity to work alongside other artists
• A chance to become part of the growing community at The Weaving Workshop

What our residencies do not include:
Housing, artist stipend.

The Weaving Workshop is an intimate studio and educational space, and community is at the heart of what we’re building here. We invite our residents to not just use the studio, but to become part of its life, energy, and creative community.

Coming up in October at The Weaving Workshop Anders Zanichkowsky is teaching 3 professional practice workshops starting with:
-Writing About Your Practice: The Artist Statement, Bio and CV on October 6.
-Getting Funding and Support: Grants, Residencies, & Exhibitions on October 12
-Make Yourself Known: DIY Self Promotion & Communication for Artists on Oct 20.

Emily Silver is a Los Angeles–based artist and co-founder of LA Tactile Lab. Her work moves between textiles, sculpture, and installation, often beginning with processes of tracing, translation, and material transformation. She received her MFA from Pennsylvania State University School of Visual Art and her BFA from the School of Visual Arts in NYC.

We are really excited to welcome @sneakydallop to The Weaving Workshop this fall to teach Small-Scale Tapestry Weaving.

Kg is providing pocket sized looms made by hand for everyone to use and keep!

Small scale tapestry weaving is portable and a fun way to fill your time not just in class, but while watching your favorite tv show, travelling, waiting in line, or whenever you have a free gap of time.
