Amy needs a kidney. Please take a moment to read on behalf our friend Amy X Neuburg ❤️

repost from
Michelle Blair
September 22 at 2:52 PM

My friend Amy X Neuburg is in real need of a living kidney donor, and I’m hoping this post can help reach someone who may be able to help.
If you or someone you know might consider becoming a living kidney donor, please take a look at her website and learn more about the low risk of kidney donation:
https://www.amyxneedsakidney.com/

And if donating yourself isn’t something you can consider, sharing this post could still make an enormous difference. It's often a random stranger who chooses to donate, so the right person may be just one share away.
Although Amy is on a list for kidney donation, these lists are long, and it can take many years to get a kidney.
Please share widely, and thank you for helping get the word out! See less by @thea_farhadian

Granular Synthesis, (excerpt) 2025. Thea Farhadian (violin & electronics), Hrayr Eulmessekian (film)

Thea Farhadian's music interacts with a selection from the film Bruitage (2005) by Los Angeles based filmmaker, Hrayr Eulmessekian. The film exists on the edge of movement/stillness, noise/silence, witnessing/remembering. The pictures are from pre civil war Lebanon family album and the audio tracks, looped and laid down as background noise tracks have been retrieved from on-line sources or existing home video tracks, which are played and re-recorded on open microphones along with the room tones and ambient noise of the different spaces and surroundings the filmmaker's former home in San Francisco.

Performed at Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA), Stanford University, Jan 10, 2025. Thanks to Constantin Basica for the video and audio
recording. Granular Synthesis was part of the CD release concert for Farhadian's album, Tattoos and Other Markings on Other Minds Records.

Stone Dreams (2021)
Joseph Bohigian, sound
Gabriel Atjian, video

How is memory preserved when physical sites of memory are destroyed? When collective memory is separated from a place, how can it be revived in a new context? Among the khachkars of Noratus cemetery, a stone becomes an instrument that brings forth fragments of Armenian folk songs, an act of remembering in the face of a century of imposed forgetting.

Joseph Bohigian is a composer and performer of acoustic and electronic music. His work focuses on issues of memory, cultural reunification, and diaspora. His music has been performed at the International Computer Music Conference, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and TENOR Conference. He performs as a member of @ensembledecipher and produces broadcasts of contemporary music for Music from Other Minds on KALW in San Francisco and interviews with composers on the Other Minds Podcast.

See Stone Dreams, June 23 in San Francisco.

Christopher Atamian's House Culture films, produced for CivilNet, offer an intimate look into the lives, environments, and creative legacies of influential Armenian cultural figures. Blending documentary storytelling with cultural reflection, these films explore how architecture, objects, and personal environments preserve memory, identity, and artistic heritage, connecting past and present in unexpected ways.

This screening features three films devoted to filmmaker Sergei Parajanov, poet Yeghishe Charents, and artist Lusik Aguletsi.

Christopher Atamian is a writer, filmmaker and translator whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The Huffington Post, and The Brooklyn Rail. A former dance critic for The New York Press, he co-founded Atamian Hovsepian Curatorial Practice in 2022, where he has curated more than forty international exhibitions and special projects. In 2026, Atamian is curating Legami: Ties that Bind by Mikayel Ohanjanyan at mudaC in Carrara, Italy and producing a documentary on the Cairene artist Anna Boghiguian.

He is also the author and translator of seven books, and created music videos broadcast on MTV. His films have screened internationally, including at the Golden Apricot International Film Festival, Arpa International Film Festival, and Tokyo Short Film Festival. A Fulbright scholar, Atamian is an alumnus of Harvard University, USC School of Cinematic Arts, and Columbia Business School.

Join us on June 23 in San Francisco for a screening of these three films from the House Culture series.

Tina Bastajian's short film, "A Tree Once Grew on Pushkin Street" (2009) examines issues of post-Soviet gentrification and loss in Armenia's capital city of Yerevan."
In collaboration with @Seda.Manavoglu, Lusine Chergeshtyan, @lucinetalalyan, and @astghikmelkonyan_, NL/AR, 5:13, 2009, Armenian with English subtitles

The film is set on Pushkin Street in the Armenian capital, Yerevan in the center of downtown lined with towering trees and historical buildings. In 2004, from the balcony of a nearby building, Bastajian filmed the street and expanse of the demolition, the erasure. The film was transferred to 16mm film then altered with five collaborating artists. Through this collective act of intervention these residents reclaim the image of their changing street.

Bastajian is a Los Angeles born, Amsterdam based media artist, researcher, essayist, and educator. Her work uses experimental approaches to documentary forms to explore themes of memory, displacement, palimpsest, and the contours of voice and translation.

See "A Tree Once Grew on Pushkin Street" June 23 in San Francisco.
