Welcome back to the Vienna Acousmonium – a 64-channel loudspeaker orchestra crafted for immersive acousmatic experiences.

Today’s setup features Cloud 8, our third-generation sound umbrella.
Floating above the audience, this octagonal loudspeaker ring forms a vertical sound field — a dome of diffusion from above.

In the Acousmonium, every speaker is more than a technical device — it’s an artist with its own voice, shaping space, color, and presence.

What is the Vienna Acousmonium?
It’s more than a loudspeaker orchestra — it’s a stage full of acoustic characters.
Each loudspeaker is a performer with its own voice, color and history.

Day 3 of Echoes Around Me 2024 brings us 𝐗𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐲’s 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, a sound performance that aims to make the act of sound spatialization more intuitive, emotional, and performative. Using a custom musical instrument made of an elastic cable and a 3D tracking system, each movement of the performer is precisely translated into spatialized sound.

Through stretching, twisting, and agitating the elastic cord, the performer generates a heavily synthesized and reactive soundscape. An integrated light at the base of the cable serves as both an interface for the instrument and a source of illumination, creating an immersive and sensory experience for both the performer and the audience.  

The work explores new reflections on the concepts of expression and expressivity within the context of sound interactivity. It raises questions about the role of gesture and the technology that enables its recognition in the act of composition and performance.

Day 2 of Echoes Around Me 2024 is here, and we’re excited to present 𝐆𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐝 with her live performance, 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐟 𝐄𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞-𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐬-𝐅𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐋𝐄. A choreography of noisy daily life, stranding into time and space, where each step is multiplied by the sound of the cane. At the center of this space, a simple tarot deck commands the hierarchy and direction of resonant worlds, calling for tension and void, anticipation and emergency.
At the heart is a young woman, cane in hand, awaiting a trajectory. This is a performance for an altered body, an immersive soundscape, and (your) absence. A third chapter of Gabrielle’s evolving performance—built for a 32-speaker dome—now revisited for a new territory at our festival.

AI Future Sounds Festival (All—In—Future—Sounds)

Bihe Wen, is a composer whose works span instrumental music, electroacoustic music, and collaborative multimedia installations. He has won numerous international prizes, including Musicacoustica-Beijing (2011, 2017), the XXVIII Luigi Russolo Contest, MÉTAMORPHOSES 2016, and the Denny Awards 2021. His works have been selected for prestigious festivals and conferences, such as ISCM World New Music Days and the San Francisco Tape Music Festival. He holds degrees from the Central Conservatory of Music in China and the University of North Texas, and is currently pursuing a PhD at Queen's University Belfast. Following a grant from the Annette Vande Gorne Foundation, he completed a residency at Musiques & Recherches in 2023.
