I'm excited to share that 'What's That You're Cooking, Thea?' (a newsletter) will be coming at you this evening all dolled up!! Thanks to the highly skilled @ryan_maceachern for making my vague vision this slick as hell reality. I love it and I hope you'll like it too!!!! 🥹

I'm delighted that this week's recipe is none other than my good friend @cianfenaughty's Vichyssoise! It's such a clever recipe, plus there'll be loads of ideas for how to serve it. Soup season, come at us 😀

September so far. Eli turned 2! He got 2 cakes for his 2 years 🦕🐷 Also pictured.... Mushroom Gnocchi au Poivre (recipe sent today!), Eli's guessed birthday dinner choice of spaghetti and fish balls (a hit), Nashville Hot Chicken and burgers (Eli had without the 'hot'), pizza, breakfast pide, @pickled_plates_food_stylist steamed aubergine, @bardouro prawns with @gabbywd, Pad Kra Pao, tommies, and the first roast - a great @gingerpigltd chicken. I have seen it said that September is the best month in which to eat and this could be true. by @theaev

Guest Special alert! Tomorrow, cake connoisseur and talented chef @cake.onmyface will be coming to WTYCT, to bring us her beautiful Plum Crumble Kuchen! Lucky us!! This is like the best fruit bun in cake form, I can't wait for you to try it. It's an honour to be hosting a recipe by Caitlin, whose own newsletter is a constant source of baking inspiration for me. Good foods of the last fortnight. The Puttanesca Tart by @helen_goh_bakes is very nice. I also loved the intro to the recipe in the book, which reminds me a lot of cooking for @charlesfare. Recipe for the falafel and hummus just gone out, along with eating notes on most of this 😄 by @theaev

Food that sustained me over a full-on fortnight. Sometimes accidentally underseasoned and always made in a hurry 😂 Been wanted to make chocolate chip brioche ever since I saw @annalisabarbieri's. I loved them (adapted rolls from @csaffitz's recipe). Also gnocchi in red sauce, Strawberry and Tahini Galette (next up on newsletter), @thekerfieldarms's gooseberries and crème brûlée, chips, and martinis, pasta alla chitarra with lamb Ragu, @baracafelondon sangers, menemen brioche sandwich (didn't have any other fillings in, but it kinda worked), first curry night in months (too spicy for Eli, whoops), Thai red curry with crispy trout (trout still his favourite, although he currently calls it chicken).

Oops, sugar detox pause this week to bring you MANGO AND KIWI ROULADE, for Alphonso and Kesar mango season 🥭

Lime and amchur in the sponge, loads of mango and a passionfruit and lime whipped yogurt cream. Coming next to #whatsthatyourecookingthea by @theaev
