A year ago, the world lost an incredible human - and I lost a friend. Rikke Whelan de Lange

I couldn’t find the words then and I can hardly find the words now.

I adored her.

She taught me to live life with fervor. To always take the leap. To “live la vida loca, until you can’t”. She taught me to be brave, to be honest, to enjoy the good wine and never drink a shitty cup of coffee. To always wear the fur coat. To live life with conviction and passion. She taught me that you can’t fear death, especially if you are busy LIVING. To love hard. To stay out late. To rest. To use your voice for things that matter and to stop at nothing until you see it through (that is unless the cancer takes you). To have the cigarette (“I mean I won’t live long enough to get lung cancer any way”).

To live life (and death) on your own terms and if the law says you can’t, use everything you got to earn the right to do so. (@rikkeslov )

I promise to share more of her story and continue her legacy. To advocate for death with dignity. And to LIVE while we still have the chance.

At Arthur, Rikke’s spirit lives on through the forget-me-nots adorned in our symbol and the mosaic floor (and sometimes the actual flowers). They were her favorite flower and one of her self appointed signs in the universe. These flowers also remind us of others we have lost and the people who have shaped us along the way.

My besties opened up a restaurant. So incredible that @thealexa and @kg.finch made their dream a reality. I remember the @eatwitharthur pop-ups at the Vacation Inn, Nohm/The Witch, FuGu, when Kevin RUINed someone’s night by not having ketchup…what a journey so far! I’m so fuckin proud of y’all and so fortunate to have witnessed this journey first hand. Since this was just day 1, and I’m sure the menu has already evolved a bit, but as the kiddos say: “That food was bussin! 10/10, no notes, straight 🔥 fr fr!” Can’t wait to see what’s next! Arthur (@eatwitharthur ) is a neighborhood restaurant in Greenpoint shaped by a love of modern Parisian bistros, shared meals, and the small details that make a place feel special. 🍷Founded by Chef Kevin Finch (@kg.finch ) and Alexa Finch (@thealexa ), the space reflects their shared vision of creating something thoughtful and welcoming. The menu follows the seasons, highlighting ingredients from the Northeast and the people behind them, with dishes that feel familiar but carry something unexpected. 🍽️

The experience extends beyond the plate. The beverage program, led by Charlotte Mirzoeff, focuses on small producers and wines with a real sense of place, alongside a backbar that feels a little playful but always intentional. 🍸 It is the kind of spot built for long dinners, good conversation, and returning again, where everything feels considered without trying too hard. ✨

We are passing the torch!
 The news is out: December 31st will be the last service of Fulgurances, Laundromat, and Arthur by Kevin Finch will take over in 2026!

Kevin was one of our resident chefs—both in New York and in Paris—so when we learned he was looking for a space in New York for Arthur, it felt completely natural to offer them ours as we get ready for our next chapter with Gigi’s down the street and the next iteration of the Fulgurances residency program in the works.

To celebrate this transition, we’re hosting four collaborative dinners on December 27, 28, 29, and 30 with our team, our resident chef Brock, and Kevin from Arthur.
