Grateful is not enough to describe what it meant to be part of this year’s Harvest Dinner. The atmosphere of amazing artistry, outstanding cuisine, and enriching conversations created an unforgettable evening. Thank you again to @elviesrestaurant @chefenrika @hunter_eva @thekimshadey @sipptalk for allowing me the chance to contribute to something so meaningful.

“Love, Mississippi”
Cover Art
For @drasticisdiesel

My initial idea was to use a photo taken of Drastic and mold him into the shape of the state. However, the symbolism used was more than enough to show how it shapes him naturally.

Using things such as his alma mater‘s sweatshirt, his neighborhood, the state flower, etc. reveals his forever love for Mississippi. by @thealexiscee

No matter the time, no matter the day
We still dance, we still celebrate

In honor of the moonlit hours of Juneteenth, here’s a breakdown of how I created the cover art of @arielj.music and @djmissmilan’s “We Still Dance”

One of the main inspirations of the cover is Ernie Barnes’ “The Sugar Shack” painting. A painting that has represented generations of music and celebration. To be able to create a piece for a song that represents just that means everything to me. by @thealexiscee

27 was my year of rediscovery. I never knew how much I needed it until I experienced it. I faced myself. I laughed. I loved. I cried. I healed. Most importantly, I became whole. Year 28, the hard work pays off. #AndManyMORE 🩶 by @thealexiscee

“Key Got Soul” is inspired by the extraordinary, @iamkeymari_

Keymyria Thomas, known professionally as Key Mari, is a 25-year-old native of Jackson, MS. An alumnus of Hinds Community College’s Utica Campus, graduating in 2019, Keymyria has had a lifelong passion for music. She began singing at around the age of 5 or 6, following in the footsteps of many great vocalists who started in their church communities. Key Mari feels a strong sense of purpose and is deeply humbled by the opportunities she has to inspire, encourage, and uplift both herself and her community.

“Jock Got Soul” is inspired by the incomparable, Jock Webb Sr.

Jock L Webb Sr. born in Rosedale, AL just outside Birmingham is a veteran, mechanic, and Blues Harmonicist. He thinks of himself as “a student of the Blues”, trying to never take for granted the gift of playing the harmonica he has been given and believes he is always in the process of learning. His gift for playing harmonica was nurtured by many people who have helped shape blues as we now know it. Jock is focused on the education and promotion of traditional blues music.

Join me and more incredible artists today for the opening of “The South Got Somethin’ to Say” Art Exhibit at the Arts Center of Mississippi (225 E. Pascagoula St. Jackson, MS 39201) from 5 PM to 7 PM. And if you’re unable to attend today, feel free to explore the exhibit any time this month.

In my contribution to “The South Got Somethin’ to Say” Art Exhibit, I chose to display photographs I’ve taken of performances by a few artists whose remarkable gifts speak volumes both on and off the stage.

I chose contrasting colors of yellow and blue to illustrate the dual nature of the artists’ inner worlds: yellow for their soul’s radiance and blue for their moments of reflection. By featuring pieces where their eyes are closed, I highlight the concept that while people often claim “the eyes are the windows to the soul,” it is their artistry that offers a glimpse into their true selves.

Again, thank you to @twurt_be_koolin, Jock Webb Sr., @iamkeymari_, @jsumsart, @municipal_art_gallery, and the @artscenterms for the beautiful opportunity. 🩶 by @thealexiscee
