A couple of weeks ago, I went to a retreat where the entire theme was centered around the garden.

Which, if you know me, you know I was VERY into.

Give me something growing, blooming, dying, being replanted, returning to the soil... and I will absolutely find a life lesson in it.

But there was one thought I came home with that I haven’t been able to shake.

It wasn’t really about what I wanted to grow next.

It was about what I might still be tending that doesn’t need me to anymore.

Because in a garden, you don’t keep everything forever just because it once grew well.

Some things have a season where they grow, they give you something, you really enjoy them, and then eventually, you clear the space.

We seem to understand that in a garden.

But in our own lives? Not so much.

We keep tending things because they used to work or we put so much time into them.

Because we loved them or they helped us become who we are.

And sometimes we’re so focused on keeping something alive that we never stop to ask ourselves: Do I actually still want this?

This week’s podcast episode is for you if there’s something in your life you’re not sure you still want, but you’re having an even harder time imagining letting it go.

Because I started thinking about the things that are hardest to let go of, and I realized they might not be the things we usually talk about.

They’re not always the toxic things or the obviously bad things or the things that completely fell apart.

Sometimes, they’re something else entirely.

And that’s the part I want you to hear for yourself.

🎧 Episode 76: The Part of Letting Go That No One Really Talks About is live now.

The woman in this week’s hypnocoaching session had just moved into the highest-paying job she’d ever had.

She had books out in the world and more opportunities were opening up.

Money was coming in, and instead of feeling safer, she was thinking:

I could win the lottery and still lose all of it.

Because sometimes more money doesn’t calm the fear, it actually just makes the fear louder.

Now there’s more to lose.
More sitting there making some part of you wonder, how long until this disappears too?

She didn’t have a problem making money.

Some part of her had learned that it wasn’t safe to KEEP what she had, and that’s a completely different problem.

This episode is for you if more money hasn’t created the sense of safety you thought it would, or if money comes in, but somehow never seems to stay.

Episode 75 is live.

Have you ever had that thing in the back of your mind that you’re terrified might happen?

The business fails, the money runs out, and everything you worked so hard to build falls apart.

For my guest on this week’s episode, @martasauretgreca , that fear became very real.

She had built a successful marketing agency and experienced significant financial success, and then, as she put it, the whole thing became a “financial dumpster fire.”

And after living through something she once imagined would be one of the worst things that could happen to her, she realized:

She was still okay.

Her kids were okay. There was food on the table. Opportunities still came. Her life didn’t end because one version of success did.

That experience became part of the springboard for the work Marta does now helping people become completely wealthy.

Not only financially wealthy, but wealthy in their relationships, health, time, freedom, purpose, and the way their life actually feels.

It also became part of the foundation for her book, Completely Wealthy, and the question at the center of her work:

What does it actually mean to be wealthy when wealth is no longer just a number in your bank account?

We talked about money, failure, shame, rebuilding, self-worth, and what happens when the thing you thought would ruin you… doesn’t.

This episode is for you if you’ve ever wondered whether it’s possible to lose the life you thought made you successful and still become completely wealthy on the other side.

Episode 74 of Shift Your Story, Change Your Life is live now.

It was going on a silent retreat and spending a few days somewhere nobody was telling me what I should want.

One of the things making me so bored when I scroll lately is the sheer volume of more.

Even when the content is good, there’s this constant underlying message that your life should be more.

Eventually, it gets hard to tell the difference between something you genuinely want and something you’ve heard described as desirable so many times that it started to feel like what you want.

I think that’s part of what the retreat interrupted for me.

Nobody was telling me to think bigger about my business or assume every restless feeling meant I was on the edge of my next level.

There was just enough space to ask different questions.

What do I actually mean when I say I want to be wealthy?

What parts of my life already feel incredibly rich, even though there’s no obvious number attached to them?

And is more actually improving the experience of being me?

I’ve worked with enough people behind the scenes who have a ton of money and still hate their lives, are burnt out, unhealthy, disconnected, or relationally poor to know money cannot be the whole definition of wealth.

And I think this is where subconscious pattern work gets really interesting.

What are the patterns that keep us living from scarcity even when parts of our lives are already abundant? What are they costing us in money, time, health, relationships, peace, and freedom?

I’m starting to think there’s a real difference between creating more because you genuinely want it and needing more in order to finally feel okay.

I want to build a bigger life from desire, not from the constant feeling that this one is somehow not enough yet.

I have more questions than answers about all of it, but I kind of love that.

So follow along as I get curious about what it really means to build a wealthy life and whether the thing we’re chasing is actually the thing that would make our lives feel richer.

I think so much of our fear of failure comes from what we imagine it will mean about us.

That we’ll lose everything, that people will think differently of us, or that we’ll never recover.

That maybe the thing we were secretly afraid was true about us will finally be proven.

And then sometimes you fail, and something completely falls apart or doesn’t work.

You lose money, lose the opportunity, make the wrong decision, and have to start over.

And somehow… you’re still here.

Maybe changed, humbled and forced to rebuild.

But still here.

And once you know that, failure stops having the same hold over you.

What have you survived that you were once convinced would break you? by @theallyrose

I’m a big believer in giving people their flowers while they’re here to receive them, so today on her birthday, I need to give some very well-deserved flowers to my OBM @scalewithkarizza 💐

One of the best decisions I’ve made in my business was hiring someone who is not only incredibly good at what she does, but who genuinely cares about the person behind the business too.

She sees the details I miss, keeps things moving, remembers the things I forgot I said, and she can take the 47 tabs open in my brain and somehow turn them into an actual plan.

But beyond being organized, strategic, reliable, and ridiculously good at operations, she also deeply cares about me as a human.

And that matters to me more than I can explain.

So on her birthday, I want to give her her flowers publicly and also hopefully send some business her way.

If you’re a business owner looking for an operations person or OBM who can see the big picture, manage the moving pieces, think ahead, and actually care about the work she’s supporting, go follow @scalewithkarizza.

Happy birthday, Karizza! 🎉

I’m so grateful you’re part of my team, and I hope you know how appreciated you are. 🙏🏾♥️ by @theallyrose

The truth is I’ve been every single one of these at some point of my entrepreneurial journey.

Recovering perfectionist here, hi. 👋🏾

What I’ve noticed is that visibility stuff rarely feels like “fear of visibility” when you’re in it.

It feels like wanting to be more prepared, waiting to “be better,” wanting more proof that everyone is going to approve, or wanting to make sure you’re “doing it right.”

Which is exactly why it can be so hard to catch because sometimes the thing keeping you hidden doesn’t look like hiding at all.

And then one day you realize you’ve built an entire little system around not having to be fully seen yet.

That’s the part I find interesting.

Not “why am I sabotaging myself?”

More like: what does some part of me think hiding is protecting me from?

Which one are you? by @theallyrose

There’s something wild about being able to help someone through cancer and still wondering whether you’ve learned enough to talk about what you know.

And I don’t mean wild because the question is ridiculous.

I mean wild because this is how sneaky the standards women hold themselves to can get.

My guest on this week’s podcast deeply believes in the work she’s doing to support people navigating cancer.

She’s not wondering whether the work matters.

She’s wondering whether SHE knows enough yet to take up more space with it.

And I kept thinking: what exactly would enough look like?

Knowing everything?

Never being asked a question you can’t answer?

Being so qualified that nobody could possibly criticize you?

Because if that’s the requirement, congratulations, you’ve created a finish line you can never reach.

We got into that exact pattern on this week’s episode of Shift Your Story, Change Your Life.

If you woke up tomorrow with everything you say you need to feel ready, would you actually do it?

I’m serious, would you?

Because maybe you’d have the money and suddenly you’d need more time.

Or you’d have the followers and suddenly you’d need better engagement.

You’d finish the training and suddenly decide you need another credential.

And this is the part I think we forget: feeling ready and being ready are not the same thing.

You can have enough experience, enough information, enough proof to take the next step and still feel scared as hell doing it.

I’m not saying preparation doesn’t matter.

I’m saying some of us have built an entire life around being ALMOST ready, and eventually you have to ask whether you’re actually preparing for your life or just finding increasingly convincing reasons not to allow yourself to live it yet.

So what would you do now if you stopped waiting to feel fully ready? by @theallyrose

I don’t think my younger self wanted success as much as she wanted the feeling she imagined success would finally give her.

The problem is that those finish lines are incredibly good at moving.

You accomplish the thing, and suddenly there’s a newer, shinier goal standing ten feet farther away, asking what else you’ve got.

I’m still ambitious, and I want beautiful things.

I still care deeply about my work, and I want to grow, create, and become more of myself.

I’m just a lot less interested in building a life that looks impressive from the outside but doesn’t feel like mine from inside it.

People will take one piece of you and decide they understand the whole person.

And sometimes, without realizing it, you start doing the same thing to yourself.

You decide who you’re allowed to be based on the version of you that feels easiest to explain.

But real people are contradictory.

You’re allowed to be deep and ridiculous, spiritual and sarcastic, powerful and soft.

You don’t have to choose one version of yourself and live there forever.

Maybe wholeness is finally letting yourself be all of who you are, even if it makes other people uncomfortable.

And if you’re a reality TV lover, share your favorite with me.
