I can’t decide what’s more exciting… hearing the new song on the radio (thanks @teekaydfe 🙏🏼) OR, being able to start driving again.

Recovery from surgery has been going well, and easing back into normal things like driving, going to church, taking the girls to school, etc has been really special.

I’m still trying to find the balance of building up stamina and energy, whilst giving my noggin the time and rest it needs to recover. It’s a dance I haven’t quite figured out yet.

Thank you to everyone who has been so patient and supportive during this process. It means a lot, especially with not being out of the woods quite yet, even though looks look normal externally. (*normal is debatable, I know. 😂)

I’m especially grateful for my wife, our friends and our community during this time. I’m choosing to be thankful amidst the highs and lows, and am genuinely just happy to be here. 😊 by @theanalogdream

A little BTS of some of the layers in “Where Would I Be?”. In hindsight, I could have swapped up the guitar and amp between parts for better separation, but I struck while the iron was hot. 🤷🏼‍♂️

On its own, the sound feels almost a tad “seasick”, but double it with a slightly different setting, and put them right and left, and voila… it shimmers underneath nicely.

Lyrics often come last to me during the songwriting process for whatever reason. I have friends that I would consider to be prolific writers who make it look effortless, whereas it takes me a little longer to sculpt and discover what I’m trying to say.

Why is it so hard to write Love songs that aren’t corny?? (…One could argue that this song is still corny, I suppose 😂)

I worked really hard at not settling for “good enough”, and I’m really proud of it. It’s special to see something come together and also to observe how the meaning of it can deepen or change over time.

I hope you can find some meaning in the words, and that maybe this song could become part of the soundtrack of your life. I hope it reminds you to be thankful for the one you love. ❤️

The first two albums I made were a decade apart, so it’s really nice to not have to wait that long again for new music! “Where Would I Be?” comes out tomorrow, and I’m very proud of it.

This song arrived in that peaceful season in-between Christmas and New Year’s. For whatever reason, that period of time seems to be very fruitful for me. (Probably due to lack of stress and the slight presence of boredom?)

Lonely Exile had a lot of heavy matter, whereas this song is dense with the lightness of love. There is a sonic contrast, too.

I can hear my @Beck influence in this song, and he coincidentally is releasing new music tomorrow as well!

Hope you enjoy it! taken in In The Skies.. by @theanalogdream

This love’s not complicated
It floats up like a bird in the skies
