inspired by the movie scene in Belly (1998) @hypewilliams i’m so used to using sneakers as my canvas that I wanted to challenge myself and use the traditional canvas to learn more about proportions + colors etc.

trying to get the face proportions to my liking was the most difficult part for me (swipe to see process & texture shot) and so far this what I can do, looking forward to having fun with it and improving over time with each painting by @theartvst

This past Saturday our first Kick & Sip sneaker customization workshop was a success!

extremely grateful for this collaboration between @kicksandfros x @women_within x @besocialplease and the opportunity to help instruct the class

@melissachanel ran the idea by me at the beginning of the year and I immediately loved it— it was great to see the vision come to life + s/o to @cristymaria.m and everyone else who helped bring this to life 🫶🏾

the room was filled laughter + creativity, we all had a really great time together & everyone’s custom AF1s turned out great!!

I’m looking forward to building more of what I want to see in the community— art, music, collaborations, etc. so stay tuned for future events!

‘same roots, new branches’ art exhibit

had a great time seeing my family, friends + new faces getting together to enjoy our artwork. i always enjoy being intentional about the little details— the ones that may go unnoticed but often appreciated and make all the difference

‘Same Roots, New Branches’

Same Roots, New Branches is a continuation of 2024: If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It, deepening the exploration of Black traditions, memory, and joy. While the previous exhibition honored the rituals that ground us—music, food, and everyday moments—this body of work examines how those same roots evolve across time, generations, and personal growth.

Through a new series of paintings, this exhibition reflects the ways culture adapts while remaining rooted in legacy. It celebrates how inherited traditions are reimagined, expanded, and carried forward—proving that while the roots remain the same, the branches continue to grow in new and meaningful directions.
