In 3 seconds, anyone with the right AI software can clone your voice. No permission. No payment. No law to stop it.

Platforms are stealing artists’ talent, livelihoods and income. Criminals are using AI technology to defraud families and steal identities. 28% of UK adults say they’ve been targeted by a voice-cloning scam. Unregulated AI voice cloning is an existential threat on ALL of our identities not just artists.

Children and the elderly are especially vulnerable. Teenagers’ voices, shared on multiple social media and chat platforms, can be stolen without their knowledge, putting them at real risk of AI identity theft, and their cloned voices then used to defraud vulnerable relatives.

🇬🇧 The UK is falling behind.
🇩🇰 Denmark is giving every citizen legal ownership over their own face, body and voice, allowing them to demand the removal of unauthorised AI content and claim payment or compensation. We need to catch up. We aren’t opposed to technology.
But we are opposed to theft.

We’re asking for your help to get Burnham’s Government to act on AI and copyright.

Alongside fellow members of the Creators’ Rights Alliance, we are urging everyone to
stand up for human creativity.

We need your help: please add your voice by signing the petition asking the
Government to introduce clear rules and regulations to ensure that whenever
copyright protected work is used by tech companies, it is used with transparency,
consent, proper licensing, and fair remuneration.

Anna Ganley, CEO of the Society of Authors and Chair of the Creators’ Rights
Alliance says:
“We’re calling on Government to protect and enforce UK copyright law. Human
creators need to know how and where their work is used, so that they can be fairly
paid. Nobody expects to work for free, or for their property to be stolen without
means to redress. We need tech companies to be accountable for their

We are urging voice artists to think twice before signing up for AI services and voice banks. Be aware of the risks, and of your worth. If you're with an AVA member agency, keep your agent informed of predatory offers and enquiries, or contact your union rep!
