As I was making eggs today, I started by separating the whites, because I can only tolerate the yolks. The first egg I cracked had two yolks. “Interesting,” I thought, “I can’t remember the last time I saw twin yolks.” The second egg also had two yolks. Strange. Third egg had two yolks. Fourth egg, two yolks. I paused and thought about the probabilities and googled it:

Eggs with double yolks are rare, occurring in about 1 in 1,000 eggs. However, the odds of finding more than one double-yolk egg in a row are higher. For example, the odds of finding four double-yolk eggs in a row in a single box are about one in a billion.

What am I supposed to do with this? by @thebarrettjohnson

Here’s a song I’ve been working on for @honestlyclairemarie Happy Birthday ❤️ I’ve never loved anyone more.

The Painter

If my paintbrush captured all of your beauty
Every contour of your feminine
I’d paint your freckles like a constellation
Against the hues of your olive skin

I will hold you with the hands of a sculptor
I will study your every lovely arch
Spend a lifetime on the curves of your shoulders
‘Cause by far you’re my favorite work of art

She’s a masterpiece heaven sent to me
She’s a work of art for the ages by @thebarrettjohnson

6 years ago, I was homeless after completely losing my health. I’m not big on pharmaceuticals—I don’t even take Tylenol—but 6 years ago I had a bad infection and was prescribed an antibiotic. My life turned upside down. I started having reactions to foods with levels of nausea I never knew existed. For years, I could only eat 5 foods I didn’t react to: apples, almonds, carrots, chicken, and bacon (I know, weird). If I ate anything else, I was in agony for several days and sleepless nights. I also reacted to petting dogs. My energy was gone. I would be exhausted after walking one city block. I was unable to work and unable to stay at anyone’s house to recover (because of dogs). I ended up squatting in my friend’s art studio for about a year. I slept in a sleeping bag on the paint-stained floor of the small room with no plumbing. About a quarter of the front door was missing, so I could hear the late-night street walkers screaming obscenities at the moon. One lovely morning at dawn, I had to interrupt the ramblings of a woman who leaned against my car, “Um, good morning, your pants seemed to have slid down to your ankles and I need to get into my car.” During the sweltering summer months, I had the option of opening the window and get eaten alive by mosquitoes or sweat like it was a sauna. My friend and I jokingly called it Motel Paradise. For the first few years of the illness, I felt like a prisoner in my own body and truly despaired of life. I studied podcasts and read books every day. I slowly found protocols that incrementally helped. I started working with a functional medicine group. I’m now able to eat a few more foods. I have a deep sense of gratitude for the blessings I have in my life. Laughing with my fiancé and my soon-to-be stepkids. Playing with my son. I’m able to exercise and take walks again. I’m deeply thankful for the few friends that helped me through this time, I will never forget it. I did a podcast with my friend Jamal. We cover some of the things I wish I knew about health when this started years ago. If it can help one person through their health journey, then it’s all worth it. by @thebarrettjohnson

❤️ Claire, If we were young, I would totally write your name on my pee-chee folder and put a heart around it. You’re a blessing to everyone who knows you. I love you, forever. ❤️ by @thebarrettjohnson

Lightning Strikes

Since we hitched and made a home
We’ve learned a language all our own
And no one ever understands me like you do

I serenade you silly songs
You got me laughing all day long
And I have never felt the way I feel for you

And now I know that lightning strikes
Only once in a lifetime
A love like ours is hard to find
But I found you

There’s no one I’d rather be with
We’re joined like two twins at the hip
And I miss you the very moment you leave the room

I’ve searched for one woman all my life
With the biggest heart that I could find
And I’m so happy that your mine
It’s you I choose

And now I know that lightning strikes
Only once in a lifetime
A love like ours is hard to find
But I found you

With my hand upon my heart
I will look up at the stars
Thanking God for who you are
It’s the truth

‘Cause now I know that lightning strikes
Only once in a lifetime
A love like ours is hard to find
But I found you by @thebarrettjohnson
