🌽 🐄 🚜 Nothing says fall has arrived like a trip to @faulknersranch! Our preschool students had a blast this week experiencing farm life with their families, hiking through the fields, picking out pumpkins and enriching their lessons with a trip beyond the classroom.

Sign up for a Barstow Open House in November to see how our teachers connect student interests, classroom learning and real-world experiences for a joy-filled early childhood education. by @thebarstowschool

Some kids with mobility challenges are missing out on playing with peers and siblings.

Thanks to a partnership between @variety_kc and @thebarstowschool’s robotics team @frcteam1939, seven Kansas City toddlers received modified ride-on cars to give them more independence and a new chance to play with others. by @thebarstowschool

Another successful GoBabyGo! event in the books! 🚗💨

A massive thank you to Variety KC for helping us make this possible, and to all the incredible robotics teams who came out to build, work, and make a difference today. We couldn’t have done it without this amazing community!

If you are interested in assisting with this event next year, please reach out to us! taken in Dan & Cassidy Towriss IDEA Space KC by @thebarstowschool

We welcomed grandparents and special friends on Friday! Early childhood and lower school students, faculty and hundreds of visitors had a great time together at one of our favorite annual traditions. Everyone enjoyed singing songs and showing off classrooms. Thank you for spending the morning with us. What a delicious day at Barstow!

Our prekindergarten classes are learning all about apples this week! After reading a book about the lifecycle of an apple and taste-testing different varieties, students made homemade applesauce. They peeled, cored and cooked the apples and explored the different parts they’ve been learning about, from the skin and core to the stems and seeds. After all that hard work, they got to enjoy the fruits of their labor! 🍎

Meanwhile, seventh and eighth grade students in Sustainable Living and Garden Explorations learned about another favorite treat, chocolate. After learning about the history and significance of chocolate in different civilizations, these students showcased their knowledge and shared chocolate-inspired foods during a “chocolate market.”
