August has been a bit of a reset month for me with no pop-up.

Partly figuring out what direction I want to take BBB in, partly enjoying my summer after finishing uni but I was actually working towards something pretty big that ended up falling through (more on that soon 👀) and I won’t lie, the rejection knocked my confidence at first.

But taking a bit of time away and looking back at everything I’ve done so far has weirdly reignited the self-belief I had at the very beginning.

I looked back at girl who bought a dough machine with basically no experience baking cookies, just because she i had it in my head that I was going to make it work 😭

I think I needed reminding of that a little bit.

Anywayyy… I’m excited for what’s next for BBB 🤎

Before both pop-ups, I won’t lie I get anxious.
What if nobody shows up? What if nothing sells?
And after a bit of a gap because of uni, that voice is back again…will I be able to do it again?
But I know once I get back into it, posting, baking, building the hype it always comes together. 🤍

Thankyou everyone I’m going to fill my cup with positive energy for the next one - I will be posting more deets on it next week

Drop down any suggestions for the final one!! 🍪

I thought I’d finally decided on the four stuffed cookie flavours for my first online drop.

Then I changed my mind, did some more testing… and changed my mind again.

Now I’ve realised two of the flavours are a bit too similar, as they’re both quite cinnamon-based.

I really want each cookie in the box to bring something different, so that means… more recipe testing.

At this point I’m definitely making life harder for myself 😭 but I want to be happy with the final four.

Taking The Big Boy Bakery online means there’s a few things I need to figure out…one of them being a website.

I’ve genuinely lost count of the meltdowns I’ve had trying to get my head around Shopify 😭

big big thank you to @thepizzaclubnw for putting me in touch with @expoli.uk , genuinely a lifesaver!!

I shared the branding and box design I’d been working on with my friend, explained my vision for the website and how I wanted it to work around cookie drops, with the website opening and closing & Tom was on ittt!!!

It’s still a work in progress but seeing all these little bits come together is making the idea of launching online feel a lot more real.

Excited to share more of what we get up to next week!! 🍪

Decision making is a struggle for me. Mainly because I worry so much about making the wrong one. And then when your already overwhelmed… enter decision fatigue

But I’ve had to learn that sometimes making the wrong decision is better than making no decision at all. Perfectionism can leave you standing still.

Branding was something I said from the start I struggled with. At uni I REALLY was struggling to see any vision.

Bit by bit though, I feel like I’m finally getting somewhere. And as frustrating as the delays have been, having that extra time to think has actually helped me figure out the direction I want to take things.

So I’m actually really excited to share it all with you when my samples finally arrive!!

I was 1 month post op last year…

Reflecting on it I really believe my knee surgery was the start of my outlook on life changing & the reason I was bold enough to restart my business…

I’m not going to pretend I came out of it with this perfect “every day is a gift” mentality because I definitely didn’t 😭 I still get stressed over stupid things I still overthink and I still have days where I forget how all of it felt.

But I think that was the first time I properly understood how quickly something you completely take for granted can change & so it was a bit of a self promise that going forwards if there was something I wanted to try I’d do it no matter my fear or doubt. so I wrote my list & on the top of that list was The Big Boy Bakery. 🍪

After finishing uni, I found myself at a bit of a business crossroads…Pop-ups were going well, but I’d left my uni city.

A one woman show & as much as the idea of popping up in different cities excited me, I’m not ashamed to admit with moving back to my home town I struggled with everything that came with organising them.

Ultimately, the unpredictability and anxiety around each day started to take its toll.

Launching online gives me the chance to get my cookies to people outside of wherever I could physically pop up, and hopefully build something a little more sustainable long term.

But this decision took me a hot min to realise. (I’m hella indecisive but I also thought I was doing a whole ass food festival across the world so that was thrown in the mix)

There’s a weird guilt that comes with working on your business every day while technically making no money from it.

Especially after finishing uni, when everyone around you seems to be starting their careers and earning a salary.

So no, the last three months haven’t made me a penny.

But hopefully I’ve been building something that will.
