A Farewell in Blush Pink: Honoring My Fellow Breast Cancer Warriors

As the curtains drew closed on my journey as Mrs. American, I found myself reflecting on a path that's been defined by strength, resilience, and unbreakable spirit. Last evening, I stepped onto the Elvis stage at @westgatevegas one more time wearing this blush pink gown, not just to bid my farewell, but to pay tribute to my fellow breast cancer warriors who've stood with me every step of the way and who I was and always will be a fierce advocate for.

This stage one year ago was where my journey as a national advocate for breast cancer began, and it's far from over. This gown, in its delicate hue, symbolizes the soft yet unyielding power that emanates from within. It reminds me of the countless battles fought, the victories celebrated, and the camaraderie that has formed the backbone of our fight.

To all the courageous warriors who've faced the daunting challenge of breast cancer, this gown represents our collective strength. It's a promise that our fight is far from finished. As I bid adieu to this pageant chapter, I step forward with renewed determination, knowing that our voices, our stories, and our passion will continue to make an impact. Thank you for allowing me to be a face for you all on a national stage representing thriving and feeling beautiful after breast cancer!

Here's to the battles won, the stories shared, and the future that holds the promise of a world without breast cancer. I'm not just saying goodbye to a crown; I'm embracing the road ahead, one that's lit by the beacon of hope and with myself holding the light as we forge forward together.

August 2 of my farewell month- my royal family 👑

Family is everything especially on a national title holders journey. To have a family that is willing to support your dream, cheer you on every step of the way, be at all the events and be willing to be a part of everyday that takes you away and splits your time is the most incredible gift.

I was blessed this year to promote my Thriving After Breast Cancer platform @theblondebombshell22. This platform is about empowering women like myself who have survived breast cancer and don’t know where to go and who you are as a survivor. Cancer takes so much from you and the pieces it takes God replaces with even brighter pieces of the new you. What you are left with is the decision to find the new you and thrive or stay stagnant. I choose to to thrive and show other survivors you can be anything after a double mastectomy, chemo and radiation…even Mrs. American.

Here’s to my gorgeous family that has been with me through it all…cancer and the journey that has me on many national stages telling my story this year. I am only able to do that with their love filling my cup and their encouragement as my biggest fans! by @theblondebombshell22

And in just a few days, I’ll stand on that stage and watch the eighth woman step into this sisterhood.

Before that happens, I want to honor the six women who carried this crown before me.

I didn’t create the legacy of Mrs. American. I inherited it.

I inherited a crown that had already been loved, worked in, traveled in, cried in, celebrated in and represented by six remarkable women with six completely different stories.

And I think that’s one of my favorite things about this title.

There isn’t one way to be Mrs. American.

Look at us.

Different women. Different states. Different stories. Different seasons of life. Yet each one was trusted with the same crown and given a year to decide what she would do with it.

I hope I honored what you handed me.

And to whoever becomes Mrs. American #8…

Oh girl. 🥹

I hope you wear it with joy and strength!

Take the pictures. Make the trip. Answer the message. Walk into the room. Use your voice. Love people ridiculously well. And when an opportunity scares you a little, say yes anyway.

Because eventually someone is going to ask you to take that crown off too.

And when that day comes, I hope you look back and realize the most beautiful thing you wore all year wasn’t the crown at all.

It’s Mrs. America Week in Las Vegas…

Representing South Carolina, winning Most Original Costume, and ultimately being crowned Mrs. American 2022 was truly a dream come true. That week changed my life and gave me a larger platform to share my story, my faith, and my passion for reminding women that our hardest chapters do not define us.

Sending so much love and encouragement to all the incredible women taking the stage this week. Soak in every moment—it goes by far too quickly! 💙🇺🇸

Why do you go to Disney so much?

Because one day, these trips will only exist in pictures. 🤍

The little hands will grow.
The princess dresses will be packed away.
They’ll stop asking to ride it “one more time.”
And walking down Main Street together won’t look quite like this anymore.

So we went back.
And back again.

Not because we needed another Disney trip…

but because I knew I’d give anything someday
to have these days back. ✨🏰
