“Snowdon sunrise tomorrow?” is what I asked a couple of friends on Monday night 😅A few hours later we were walking with head torches on… then watching the sun come up at the summit 🌅And this is my WHY 🙌🏼The reason I train and show up for myself consistently… to stay fit, strong and healthy so I can say YES to things like this without overthinking it, and without my fitness or health being a limiter.“Fancy this tomorrow?”YES.That’s what it’s all about for me.That’s why I strength train 2–3 times a week, run and ride a few times a week, and walk with Bon daily… to keep myself in a place where I’m ready (or not far off) for anything I want to say yes to.So my fitness is never the thing that holds me back (and if anything, I’m usually the one suggesting these slightly wild ideas 😅)Same goes for the bigger and day to day stuff too…“Late entry Marathon place in 12 weeks?” Yes… with a training block, that’s doable (this was London last year 🥹)“Will you be my Hyrox partner next month?” Yesss!“Carry everything from the car in one go?” Of course 😅I want to feel strong, fit, capable and able to do the things I enjoy… and keep doing them for as long as I can.And helping others do the same is one of the reasons I created @eattrainliveuk and what our coaching team do with clients now.Yes, some have fat loss or aesthetic goals, but that’s just part of it… the bigger thing is building strength, fitness and confidence so you’re not held back in life.Being able to say yes to runs, hikes, dog walks, holidays, running around with the kids in your life… and just the energy, strength and resilience for the fun and randomness of life. It’s about what you can do and what you are ready to say yes to.I have a podcast on this, if you’d like a listen comment or DM me ‘WHY POD’ and I’ll send you the link. Here to help with all things coaching too, DM’s are always open 🧡 by @thebondog

Have you explored Bryn Euryn overlooking Rhos-on-Sea? If not, it’s definitely worth a visit🤩There are two main paths to explore:Summit Trail - follow the green waymarkers from the car park and pass the ruined 14th century Llys Euryn, walk through woodland and grassland, and reach the 6th century hillfort and trig point at the top. Panoramic views, but some sections are steep and can be slippery in winter, so you may need walking shoes or boots (or something with grip) Woodland Trail - follow the red waymarkers from the car park for a gentler circular route through the woods with less inclines, perfect if you want something easier but still in nature. The terrain is a mix of woodland and grass paths, with plenty of options depending on how you’re feeling.Popular for dog walking, and many are off lead, but as always doggos should be kept under close control as there are other dogs and families around.Grading is easy to moderate and distance wise both paths are around 2-3km, but you can extend your walk by combining them and doing a loop of each or starting on or heading out to Rhos-on-Sea Promenade for a bigger circular route with seaside in too. There are also lots of cafés and a few pubs nearby if you fancy food or coffee after. My top recommendations are @cornastorr for the best coffee, @social_rhos for pizza, @coast_rhos or @marmaladerhos for lunch or cake, and @hickoryssmokehouse for food.So yeah, if you’re looking for a walk you can do in under an hour (or 2 with the longer options) and still get woodland, history, butterflies and wildflowers in spring and summer, fresh air, and big views.... This is perfect.A lovely little local adventure with your dog, family or friends 🧡🌿 by @thebondog

A lovely, easy walk… Conwy RSPB to Conwy and back 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏰This one has gone wild on the other app (not quite as wild as Bod castle 🤯) but I thought I’d share more of mine and Bon’s walks here on @thebondog too from now on 🥾🐕🌿Me and Bon headed for a nice walk on the newly refreshed cycle path from Conwy RSPB into Conwy and back. It’s around 5km in total, and is accessible and pram suitable, and made for bikes. It’s a great one for dogs too. Well-behaved doggos can be off lead for parts, and there’s plenty to see along the route. The cycle path actually does continue straight to Deganwy and beyond also - which is what they do for the Conwy Parkrun route - but we took a left to go into Conwy.Little stop off in Nonno’s coffee shop in Conwy, which is dog friendly and does great coffee ☕ There’s lots of lovely pubs, cafes and shops to explore in Conwy too, and you might see some people up walking the walls in the videos so that’s an option for you too.Parking is available at the RSPB car park if you’re visiting the reserve, café, or visitors centre. Otherwise, there are a few spaces just outside, or you can walk in from nearby car parks. The RSPB reserve itself is definitely worth a visit. I had Bon with me today and the café and reserve don’t allow dogs because of potential impact to the birds welfare. So there you have it, a simple, accessible walk with a coffee. All a win in our opinion 🫶🏼 by @thebondog

Here’s one of our favourite local park walks… Pentre Mawr Park, Abergele 🌿It’s our favourite park because it’s where most of Bon’s first walks were, where she first went off lead, and where I started @eattrainliveuk as an outdoors fitness camp. At around 1 mile (20–30 mins), it’s a flat, easy loop - perfect for a quick stroll, a dog walk, the kids to cycle, or a run, and ideal for having the flexibility to do as many laps as time allows. It’s dog friendly, pram friendly, and accessible, with wide paths, one that’s tarmac all round, plus extra trails too, and plenty of open grass space. Plus, there’s lots to do for the kids: a play park, skate park, sports courts, and a brand new pump track, plus it’s home to Abergele Rugby Club. It’s actually the largest park in Conwy county, and has such a good mix of facilities in one place. Plus it’s only over the bridge to the beach, or 5-10 mins walk to town, both of which have cafes/pubs and shops. I’m a big encourager of spending time outdoors, walking and/or adding movement and training to your week..And as there’s been investment to continuously improve this space, it’s good to support, look after and use it 🧡 by @thebondog

One of our favourite North Wales walks… The Alwen Reservoir 🫶🏼If you’ve not been here, add it to your list. It’s so beautiful and this video doesn’t even capture half of it 😍 If you have been or know it well, take this as your sign to return or to get outdoors today! 🥾☀️So this lovely walk is an 11-12km (~7mile) circular walk around the Alwen reservoir, near Denbigh. It follows the main forest tracks and ‘well walked’ paths along the lake, through woodland and over the moorland. It’s ideal for walking, trail running and cycling, with varied terrain, and a mix of forest tracks, lakeside paths and open hill footpaths. I’d say it’s a moderate walk as it’s undulating with some climbs, and can be slippy in parts in winter, but is suitable for active families and dogs.Dogs can be off lead, but as always, under close control as lots of people we passed did have theirs on lead as nervous doggos, and the moorland regularly has livestock on so I always put Bon back on for that section. For longer rides, runs and hikes, there are also options to combine with Llyn Brenig trails too (with a road crossing).Just to note, there is very little phone signal there, and there’s no ‘short cut’ back, so take whatever snacks, drinks and clothing you need for a 2h15-3h15 walk depending on your speed and stops.I have no link to the Alwen other than personally loving it ever since I was a kid 😍 but my passion as a coach is for helping others be healthier and more active, and getting out walking around beautiful places sure helps with that! 🧡 by @thebondog

It’s Bon dog’s birthday 🎉🐕🎈8 today which is wild because 1) wow time flies and 2) we regularly get asked ‘is she a puppy?’… takes after her mum looking and acting younger than she is 😅☺️My adventure buddy, giver of the best cuddles, part human and/or the brightest and most loving dog I know, still as crazy and mischievous as ever, and ETL clients’ favourite coach 😂🧡It’s been a year or so full of ups and downs, many vet visits and procedures and too much of the on lead walks. So today was all about adventures together, off lead, with a little stop off for a ‘ccino for both of us ☕️ and a little van chill with a view after! 🫶🏼 not that different to normal, but that’s the goal for what her (and our) life should be like… filled with things we enjoy 🫶🏼 HBD BonBon, you’re the best 🧡🥳 by @thebondog

We found a new walk… Bodelwyddan Park 🏰When I saw it was open, and it’s literally down the road from our gym @eattrainliveuk , me and Bon were straight to it… A lovely trail around the meadow and woodlands surrounding Bodelwyddan Castle. It’s been created by the council, and is a hard gravel path for the first section of it which is perfect for prams and accessibility. It’s sign posted and there are maps dotted around which show the different paths. It doesn’t have access to the castle, but you can admire it from very close as you walk around the paths and the grounds! it’s dog friendly - but they must remain on leads - which is a good job as we saw some deer right next to the path today! 🦌🫶🏼The path is windy and undulating but has plenty of benches to rest and look at the view. The main gravel and woodland route is probably around 4km but you can use the grass paths too to walk further and explore the meadow more!I have no association with the park, but I’m a big encourager of getting outdoors walking and/or adding movement and training to your week…And as there’s been investment to create space for this locally, it’s good to support, look after and use it 🫶🏼 by @thebondog
