September Glimmers ✨

Life’s been doing its thing but then I look back at all these glimmers of joy September gave me and the time I’ve gotten with some of the people que adoro and I can’t help but feel thankful and blessed. 💙

I had a nightmare last night…

I have never met a woman who either hasn’t experience SA or doesn’t know someone who did.

I remember being at a friend’s home when I was in middle school. Sitting in a circle with our friends. And every girl in the circle had a story. A family friend, an uncle, a cousin, a father…

The Cornell R@pists aren’t the first monsters to do something like this. There are countless women who go through this. Every. Day.

Hold them accountable. Share their names. Don’t let them fucking breathe easy.

Dear @tracydeonn ,

Did you have to do all of that?!! I can’t handle this much stress and now I gotta sit with it until the next book? I beg of you, hurry up.

P.S. I’m kidding. I love it here. Don’t rush. I can’t wait to see what you have Bree and the crew do next, but I’ll be patient.

Can I get an arc for book 4 though? 😬😅

Yesterday really filled our cup. 📚❤️

Books on the table, conversations flowing, people connecting, laughing, sharing recommendations and just enjoying being together. This is what community is all about.

A huge thank you to @bookhavenbooks and Bitter Berries Book Club for bringing this beautiful little afternoon to life with us. And thank you to everyone who pulled up a chair, talked books and made a new connection.

More of this, always. 💗📖✨ by @thebookishblues

Está chica’s first BookCon! 📚✨

If you would have told 5 year old me there was a place where thousands of readers would go to shop all things books, bookish and have a chance to meet authors…she would have had stars in her eyes.

BookCon was not everything I hoped it would be but little me was still bouncing around inside with excitement! Truly, what made BookCon the best time for me were my friends, all the indie authors and the small businesses.

I hope that next years Con is better.🤞🏻

I’ll be sharing a recap reel and one with my thoughts (the good, the annoying and what I wished was different) soon, stay tuned!

Vejigante Mask Reveal! 💙

Over the last 5 weeks, I’ve been sharing over on @whathappenedtothebees that I’ve been taking a Vejigante Mask class with local JC artist @eileenruthsanchez at the Biblioteca Criolla at @jclibrarynj ! It was such a great class that allowed me to connect even more with my Caribbean roots. If you’re local follow Eileen Sanchez and stay tuned for updates on her next class! And if you’re not, give her a follow anyway!

This mask was a journey of patience with myself and getting to create art in a way I hadn’t explored yet. And of course, I had to make it blue. ✨💙

Support your local artists and libraries!

Bookish Glimmers Lately ✨

Life has been trying (and partially succeeding) to kick my ass this year and truly, I’m still here because of my loved ones and books. I heard this song and it so perfectly describes the type of joy I seek to hold onto. So I’ll be calling any & all recaps ✨glimmers✨now. Because that’s exactly what they are.

I hope you share your glimmers too. Tag me, I want to see. ✨💙

Bookstagram Wrapped! ✨💙

When I tell you it was so hard to choose my top 5. I had 14 5⭐️ reads this year! All 37 books and their authors have helped keep me sane this year and I loved every single word of their books.

This wasn’t the reading goal I imagined but I told myself I wasn’t making a goal this year and I’m glad I didn’t! Some years look different than others and while I may have had a big drop this year, each book has been amazing. Newly 90% of all my reads were above 4⭐️’s!

So cheers to great books, bookish fun, reading at your own pace and hopefully, even more great reads next year! 💙

What’s your top book of the year? 👀

Book unboxings are truly an experience over here, especially when I’ve been waiting all year for them. 🤭

I’m posting this late because I already devoured Son Of The Morning by @yungdeadthing and will be ranting about it soon. IT WAS 100% WORTH THE WAIT!

I can’t wait to dive into Eternal Ruin by @tigestgirma (apologies if I mispronounced your name!) I just snow it’s going to send meeee!

Are y’all reading either of these? If you’re not, you need to be!
