The permanent collection at the new David Geffen Galleries @lacma is an incredible architectural feat, while also rethinking how art history can be experienced. I left feeling genuinely inspired—as a curator, I was fascinated by how works from different periods coalesced into a seamless dialogue across time. Moments that might traditionally be separated instead felt interconnected, with nothing overlooked or overshadowed. Thank you to @hope.flrs for the thoughtful curatorial tour, and @queridavane for the invitation to experience the space ahead of its public opening on May 4th. #lacma #davidgeffengalleries taken in LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art by @thebradyrobert

Proud to have included an excerpt of my thesis chapter, “Greer & JoJo: Acts of Artistic Transmission” in our MA exhibition catalog designed by the amazing @mankun_gd from our November 2024 exhibition, Steep, Alter, Ritual @uscroski.

The essay discusses the mentorship between artists, Greer Lankton (b. 1958 - d. 1996) and JoJo Baby (b. 1971 - d. 2023), and how queer artistry, knowledge, and lineage is passed on.

My thesis, “Kings, Queens, and In-Betweens” can be read in full via the link in my bio.

I want to shoutout to my fellow cohorts for all the work we all did in making this exhibition catalog a reality while we were all writing our theses.

I also want to thank @andycampy for all of his support and guidance throughout this process.

Thank you to the @mattressfactory for letting us use archival photographs and ephemera of Greer Lankton and JoJo Baby.

Excited to announce I have graduated with a Master of Arts in Curatorial Practices and the Public Sphere @uscroski! My MA thesis, “Kings, Queens, and In-Betweens: The Life and Art of JoJo Baby” is accessible via @usclibraries digital library. My thesis is a memorialization dedicated to my friend, the late Chicago legendary artist, club-kid, doll-maker, JoJo Baby. I’ve shared a few photos pulled directly from my thesis.

This has been the wildest journey; I’ve been in college for the last six years, earning an AA, BA, and now, an MA. As a first generation college student, I’m grateful to have had this opportunity to pursue higher education. I’ve learned to not take anything for granted and to value, celebrate, and support those who are in my corner. I want to thank my close friends whose support and encouragement throughout this process has been appreciated immensely. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future brings!🎓📜 #uscroski #jojobaby #greerlankton #queerarchives #chicagodrag taken in USC Roski School of Art and Design by @thebradyrobert

Huge shoutout to every artist we had the privilege of showcasing in this show! It was truly an honor to share your amazing work. Proud to be among my fellow cohort with co-curating this beautiful show. Thank you @andycampy @rotroz for your support, guidance, and encouragement of our show throughout the entire process.

Thank you to each and every person who came to see our show: friends, family, peers, faculty, and curators. Thankful for all of the amazing feedback we received from so many people.

About the Exhibition: “Steep, Alter, Ritual” examines how personal and communal rituals can transform the monotony of modern life and linear, productivity-driven notions of time. Curated by the ‘25 MA Curatorial Practices and the Public Sphere cohort, this exhibition features artists from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. The exhibition showcases work across media, including painting, photography, video, printmaking, and installation. Featured artists explore how rituals create moments of reflection and connection, offering new perspectives on how symbolic actions shape our identities and shared experiences across cultures and generations.

Our Patch: LGBTQ+ Life from Cradle to Grave is on view until October 30, 2024 at the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Advocate & Gochis Galleries @lalgbtcenter.

Our Patch: LGBTQ+ Life from Cradle to Grave is One Institute’s (@oneinstitutela) tribute to the diverse yet deeply intertwined histories of LGBTQ+ community care and movement-building in Los Angeles. The archival ephemera on display — including photographs, videos, oral histories, printed matter, correspondence, and artist books — provide insight into the multifaceted organizing strategies and care practices undertaken by LGBTQ+ activists at every stage of life, from youth to old age.

The exhibition showcases never-before-seen materials from the newly cataloged collections at ONE Archives at the USC Libraries (@onearchivesusc) including: Lee Glaze/The Patch, Multiracial Social and Political Organizations like Black & White Men Together (BWMT), Asian/Pacific Lesbians and Gays (A/PLG), the Multi-Ethnic Gay and Lesbian Exchange (MEG/LE), Clothespin Fever Press (Carolyn Weathers & Jenny Wrenn), Virginia Uribe/Project 10, and Gerardo Velázquez (curated by artist Jessica Carolina González @jcg.studio).

I want to thank Andy Campbell (@andycampy) for inviting me to be a co-curator on this amazing project and am so proud for this exhibition to be my curatorial debut. I had an incredible experience working with them and Jessica Carolina González (@jcg.studio). Jessica, your curation of Gerardo Velázquez’s archives are beautiful and I think Gerardo would be proud.

I also want to send a huge thank you to the teams at the ONE Institute and the Los Angeles LGBT Center for all their support for our exhibition and helping to make this show a reality.

Receiving a certificate of recognition from the California State Assembly is a total honor and I’m deeply humbled.
