For years we have looked on at Top 50, feeling too far from the big cities to be noticed.

So we can’t quite believe this, we genuinely thought it may have been a clerical error. Big up the North ✊🏻

In what appears to be a series of booking errors, I have been scheduled for three appearances at this year’s Hull Comedy Festival. All ticket links in bio. Why wait until your diary fills up with something even worse?

1. BEST OF ‘ULL
Wed 4 Nov, 7pm · Hull Truck Theatre (Godber Studio)
The festival’s annual showcase of Hull’s funniest. I’m on it, which raises some questions about the selection process. From £13.50.

2. RICH AUSTIN: STONE COLD
Sun 8 Nov, 8:30pm · The Brain Jar
My solo hour. “Note-perfect stand-up from one of the second best comedians in Hull” is what it says on the wildly ambitious poster. Killer lines, stone cold delivery. Pay what you want (as long as it’s at least £5).

3. QUIP SPICE
Sat 14 Nov, 9pm · Pop Up Space, Fruit Market
Stand-up, improv and outright mayhem from some of Hull’s leading comedians. I’m one of them, administratively speaking. This was a lot of fun last year. From £6.

Top Banana 🍌

-Wild Turkey Rye Whiskey

We take fresh bananas through a multistage enzymatic transformation before clarifying, to use as dilution in the old fashioned style cocktail. And the garnish? A banana infused white chocolate treat, just for fun.

The road to The Brain Jar…

It’s been some journey with the guys at Brain Jar.

Rewind all the way back to January 2025, I was filming a feature for them to promote their alcohol free options as part of a new series called @alcohullfree_

The aim was to encourage people to still visit all of the amazing independent venues in Hull during dry January and then this naturally became a community and events.

Fast forward again to April/May 2025 I decided to host an event at The Brain Jar and this was picked up by @bbclooknorth @peterlevy.bbc @joshgorrochap

It really seemed like people were beginning to take notice and fast forward to now they stock our bloody beer 🤯

It’s been a long time in the making and we have built a great relationship in that time, they have always been so supportive of the work we do and have always been willing to help.

Thank you so much to everyone at @thebrainjar and taking a chance on us. I can’t tell you how buzzing we were to see a picture of our can in your menu, it really felt like we had made it. 😅
