rasheed!

experimental directing? heavily relied on vibes for these and I can’t complain one bit. the dust on the scanner makes things interesting but I’ll prolly rescan for some more clarity.

printed a few of these for bw critique and ended up talking about seeing/being seen and the dare of how willing we are to do either, what glasses we choose to look through or put on, etc. The accidental double exposure also very much reminded me of the last image, too funny not to include!!!

also thankful for cropping, using a flashlight in one hand and metering with the other was very goofy by @thebricamera

I think the prints for these are a bit stronger! I think we’ve been so conditioned to digital media that I was actually really surprised I liked these better in print, myself.

conceptually: during critique there was lots of references from peers about classic Americana, play, coming of age, etc and I felt like most of them were very on point. these to me kinda became more about disposal + how the car, the person, and Apple only have one life (like they all end up rotting at some point and at different times).

You either choose to live it or you don’t, and that’s where the Apple toss pulls in the play and coming of age stuff. also thought it was cool that everything in the image has a story that’s not known. we walk around unknowing of everyone’s dented bumpers, the music stuck in the cd players, bruised apples, why they picked that shirt today, etc, until we don’t. But there’s a lot of worth in learning those things, it’s something we shouldn’t discount (like the sign!)

quality wise: got good feedback overall except that the last image didn’t add to the concept as much + request that I push getting the textures (windshield dirt), small details, and add more history about the apples experience (I mentioned I had put it through hell for this series and prof wanted to see more of that).

overall quite please bc this felt more thrown together than I wanted but I think film is just slowing down and then scrambling and there’s two lovely truths in that by @thebricamera

okay why did the start of this story board come straight out of the abyss after eating a soggy turkey sandwich. I promise this project is not gonna be as depressing as it looks. very much so the opposite actually. I think I’ve finally got the words to say and the fact it came after eating a sandwich of all things is quite laughable. heck idek if I’ll end up showing it when it’s done but it will be made and that’s what matters!! #storytelling #visualjournal #mentalhealth by @thebricamera
