Well after finding a dead sword fish we decided to head to the drop off for some deep dropping. Had some mysterious bites but no swords. However, we did get to see quite the show put on by Risso’s dolphins which hunt deep water squid and are covered in scars from some of these battles. Swordfish also eat squid!!! We also hit a rock pinnacle on the way home and got a nice Lingcod about 25 lbs @devries2102 #fishing #swordfish #rissosdolphin #lingcod #haidagwaii by @thecaptainquinn

We headed out looking for Coho salmon off Haida Gwaii, but what we stumbled upon washed up on the shore left us completely speechless.

This is a massive Broadbill Swordfish—a warm-water apex predator that has never been documented washing ashore this far north in British Columbia history. Finding this fish in our cold northern waters is completely unprecedented.
