What a weekend! šŸ˜Ž
Just back from a couple of nights in West Cork at @mountainforgeescape, a stunning family-run camping and glamping spot.

I didn't get half of it on camera - the sauna, the cold plunge bath, and more - I was having too good a time, my phone stayed in my bag for the most part. Just the way it should be! ā˜ŗļø

This was my first time properly camping, and honestly, it's awakened a new love for it. Such a beautiful space with amazing facilities and the loveliest team behind the scenes.

If you're ever in the area, I can't recommend it enough.

Thank you Mountain Forge Escape for setting the bar so high. We'll be back soon! ā¤ļøā›ŗ

Remember, shop small and support local, wherever you can. ✊

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of hosting a live Q&A in the @solicitorsgrowth Network with Eoghan O'Sullivan from @breakthroughcancerresearch.

We talked about Corporate Social Responsibility - what it actually looks like in practice, and how even small actions can create real impact.

Not performative stuff. Real, practical ways (big and small) that businesses (also big and small) can show up for causes that matter.

What really stood out to me was how Eoghan spoke about the ripple effects. How getting involved with a cause doesn't just benefit the chosen charity or cause - it fosters culture within a business, creates opportunities to deepen client relationships, and gives people something meaningful to rally around outside of the day-to-day grind.

It reaffirmed for me how business really can be a vehicle for good, and that doesn't always have to be in a grand, sweeping way. It can be in the everyday decisions we make - who we partner with, how we use our skills, what we choose to champion.

I'm hoping to have many more of these conversations in the coming months. Because I think the more we talk openly about how business and doing good can go hand in hand, the more ideas will be sparked and the more good we can bring to our work - and beyond.

A huge thank you to Eoghan for his time and generosity in sharing his insights and experience. šŸ™

If you're a business owner, I'd really encourage you to explore what Breakthrough Cancer Research are doing and how you might get involved.

You can find out more at breakthroughcancerresearch.ie or reach out to Eoghan and the team directly.

Just do the thing!
Yesterday, I graduated from UCC with my Higher Diploma in Coaching and Coaching Psychology.

I had wanted to complete this course for about two years before actually signing up. I let so many other factors get in the way, using the old excuse of ā€œI just don’t have the timeā€.

I finally realised that the ā€œright timeā€ would never come unless I made it the right time.

I had to drop the image I had of an ideal college/learning experience and just make it work.

It wasn’t going to be perfect, and I’d have to figure it out as I went, but I knew waiting another year would just feed that guilt of not starting, further compounding those limiting beliefs and fuelling procrastination even more.

When I did finally sign up, the thought of the finish line felt like an eternity away. But, I can’t tell you how fast it all went. Being out the other side now feels surreal in a way and brings home even more how precious time is.

I saw people at the graduation ceremony yesterday of all ages and stages of life. It proved to me that, no matter the season of life you are in, we are so privileged to choose how to spend our time.

I know it’s not always easy or straightforward, but if there is something you really want to do, don’t just dismiss it because the time isn’t perfect. Sit with it and see if there is a way to make it work for you, even if it looks different from what you imagined.

The timing will never be perfect.

Don't let another year pass while you're waiting for conditions that may never come.

Start where you are, use what you have, and trust that you'll figure out the rest along the way. Your future self will thank you for starting today. by @thecatherinetobin

Stop for a second and breathe. If your social feeds are like mine, you'll need it.

The world is heavy right now. And that's an understatement!

You want to do something, but you don't even know where to start!

Don't worry, you're not alone. I think there are a lot of business owners sitting in this space at the moment.

From the endless news cycle, the cost of living, running a business, and just trying to keep up with daily life, it can feel like there's very little energy left over to think about anything else.

You care about what's happening. About doing the right thing. About doing something!Ā

But between everything else on your plate, it's hard to know where to even begin.

That's exactly why I'm hosting The Good Business chat this Friday. To help us all find some way to begin.

I'm not talking about becoming an activist or overhauling your entire business. But about creating a bit of space to pause, breathe, and have an honest conversation with other business owners about how we are feeling and about how we can do good through our work - even in small, practical ways.

This call is about connection, coming together, sharing, unloading and a reminder that you don't have to figure it all out on your own.

It's a free, informal online group call. No expectations, no judgement, just a conversation with like-minded people.

Friday 27th March, 12pm online.

I'd love to see you there. šŸ™šŸ» by @thecatherinetobin

"69% of consumers are more likely to buy from brands that align with their personal values." - Ipsos

That stat didn't surprise me as such. But it did make me think.

Over the years, I can definitely say I’ve been influenced to purchase or not purchase from a brand or business as I became more aware of their ethics and practices.

But it's only more recently that I've become truly intentional about it. Actively making ethics/values a key part of the consideration phase of my own buyer journey.

I can see the same intention growing in others, too, as people become more aware. (Just look at the QuitGPT movement)

And this matters even more with higher-value purchases. I want to know that the person or company I'm choosing to work with or buy from shares and demonstrates my values.

A demonstration of values that goes further than a mission statement on a website.

Everything you do in your business communicates your values - from who you hire and how you treat them. To the suppliers you choose, what you advocate for, and even what you stay silent about.

This is why knowing what you stand for, what your brand stands for, and what you're willing to stand up for matters so much right now.

We're not striving for perfection or trying to tick every value box.

But what if we all tried to do even one thing in a more intentional, value-aligned way? Then, maybe bit by bit, we can do more. Do better.

If you want to explore this further and chat about practical ways to incorporate your values into your business and do good through it, join me for a free online group call with fellow business owners.

The Good Business Chat will take place online at 12pm on Friday, 27th March 2026.

"If you want to do good, you've got to DO something!"

I truly believe that most of us are well-intentioned and want to do good. But I've had so many conversations over the last year or two where, when talking about the state of the world, I get a shrug and a "I know it's awful. But sure, what can we do."

Most of the time, that response has been a full stop and not a question mark. A politely veiled request to change the subject.

And to be honest, many times, I’ve just let that response go. But. No more!

From now on, I choose to hear that response as a question and invitation, and my reply is going to be: "Yes! That's the spirit. What CAN we do?! Here are some ideas I've got. I'd love to hear yours."

Business can be an incredible tool for positive change. We have platforms, audiences (no matter how big or small), networks, skills, and resources.

We make decisions every single day about who we work with, what tools we use, where our money goes, and what we amplify. That's power that most of us don’t even realise we have.

I've been going down a rabbit hole in recent weeks of how we can bring activism into our businesses - not performatively, but practically.

Small, realistic acts that do good and encourage others to do good.

This doesn't mean overhauling everything about your business, but looking for the places where even a small shift can make a difference.

I'll be holding a free online session later this month for business owners who want to explore this together. No agenda except an honest conversation about how we can use our businesses to spark positive change.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, drop me a message or comment below and I'll send you the details. by @thecatherinetobin

Easing into 2026... slowly but surely.

Usually, come January 1st, I’d be hitting the ground running with new plans, big (forced) energy, and moving straight into hustle mode.

But after, let's just say a wake-up call by March last year, (having started the year with the usual attack), I've finally learned my lesson. And, since then, I've been leaning in to listening to myself a bit more.

I'm learning to notice that I’m still tired from the year gone by. And with the dark, cold days, maybe now I'd be better off conserving some energy instead of burning through it too soon.

So, this year, I’m easing in nicely and at a pace that suits me.

Yes, I have plans and ideas I'm excited about. Yes, I feel the fresh-start energy buzzing all around.

And don't get me wrong, I've still got plenty to keep me busy and a to-do list as long as myself... so I'm not sitting around daydreaming.

But outside of the usual day-to-day tasks that need to get done, I’m allowing for some space to reflect on my plans, get clear, fine-tune and build the right foundation before going full throttle.

So that’s what I’m doing.

In February, I’ll be kicking off something new, but for now, I'm allowing 2026 to stretch its legs, and get a little more warmed up.

In the meantime, if you love a wall planner like me, I've got a few to give away. I went BIG this year and, as I was designing some planners for clients pre-christmas, I created an A0 size wall planner for myself!!

I have a few extra, so if you would like some new wall paper in the form of a planner for your office, just pop a comment below and I'll do a draw next week.

Oh, and Happy New Year! ā˜ŗļø by @thecatherinetobin

Christmas Day is almost upon us, and we’re firmly in the season of giving.

It’s an absolute privilege to be able to give to the people we love and care about, but for many of us, this time of year also shines a brighter light on giving to those who are truly in need.

While generosity shouldn’t be limited to December, Christmas does tend to make us pause and reflect a little more. If we’re in a position to give or donate, it really is something to be grateful for and to be encouraged.

As business owners, we can often default to thinking we should spend money on client gifts, cards, or promotional items at this time of year. And that can be lovely. But it’s also worth asking: could that money make a bigger impact elsewhere?

This year, I’ll be donating instead to a few causes that are close to my heart.

ā¤ļø @LauraLynnhospice, which provides specialised care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

ā¤ļø Cork Penny Dinners, which has been providing homeless supports in Cork for over 137 years.

ā¤ļø @GazagoBragh, who are raising much-needed funds to provide water, food and shelter to displaced families on the ground in Gaza.

These are some of the causes I want to champion further in 2026 and think more intentionally about how my work can contribute to making a meaningful impact in areas that matter deeply to me.

And, it’s worth remembering that giving isn’t just about money.

Our time, our skills, and even our voices can be just as powerful!

In whatever way you’re able to show up or contribute, big or small, it all matters and makes a difference.

If there’s a cause close to your heart, feel free to mention it in the comments. by @thecatherinetobin
