Shadowrealm is a song about surrendering to the darkness. Not in submission to something evil, for darkness is not inherently evil.

Darkness is the womb. A place of stillness, of transformation, of becoming.

Sometimes we must allow ourselves to rest within it, rather than struggle against it. For it is only in that quiet surrender that we begin to glimpse the light, waiting to draw us gently back into the current of life.

🌑✨

“At the bottom there’s peace and you can see
The shining stars that set you free”

But we must first enter the darkness to be able to see the light.

We went into the woods at dusk to shoot the cover for Shadowrealm 🖤

The elk make seriously spooky noises in the mountains of New Mexico! 😂

“A place where few would choose to go
To swim in it’s depths is to face your own death
At the bottom there’s peace and you can see
The shining stars that set you free”

Shadowrealm is now available everywhere- add it to your October playlist 🖤

And so we emerge.

Shadowrealm is out in the world today.

This is an unusual little song, and one I’m immensely proud of. I’ve lived inside its layers for a long time; today it gets to belong to you too.

Turn the lights down. Put your headphones on. Come with me. 🖤

Shadowrealm - out now.

Two days until Shadowrealm arrives. October 2nd.
This image holds what the song holds; standing at the edge of the dark wood, arms open, not turning away.
If you’ll step in with me when it opens, pre-saving is the most powerful way to help it find its people. Link in bio. by @thechantress

Sometimes the smallest points of light are the ones we see most clearly in the dark.

Shadowrealm is a journey into the parts of ourselves we might rather avoid; grief, fear, surrender.
But it was never really a song about darkness.

It’s about what becomes visible when we finally allow ourselves to enter it.

Little flecks of light burn brightly
Diamonds in the black of my soul

Shadowrealm is made entirely from my voice.

No instruments. Every note, harmony and sound you hear comes from layers of the human voice.

There’s something I love about taking something so familiar and human and building an entire world from it.

Shadowrealm arrives October 2.

Pre-save now via the link in my bio. 🖤

As the Summer wanes and we embrace the first glimpses of the new season, it’s time to take a breath.
So much has changed- in our world, in our individual lives. We all have stories to tell but often, in the busy and endless flow of time’s current, we fail to pause and reflect.
The Autumn equinox, this week, was a tipping point; a moment when the days and the nights are equal in length. We have faced the long, hot days of Summer and revelled in all her gifts, but the tide is changing.
This is a natural time to pause and acknowledge. To simply be and to sit with all the emotions that come with that pause; because nothing lasts.
Just as the leaves begin to fall from the trees I will release what is no longer a part of my story, with gratitude and in the knowledge that nothing is lost, only changed. by @thechantress
