HUILA MÁGICO 2026 — THE CUPPING HAS BEGUN.

The lots are in. The tables are set. And right now, somewhere between Huila, Amsterdam and the United States, our teams are tasting their way through the best coffees the region has to offer.

Over the past weeks, producers from all across Huila submitted their finest lots to the fifth edition of Huila Mágico. Each one carries months of work — careful picking, precise processing, and the kind of patience that only comes from knowing your land.

Soon, we'll announce the top 5 winners of Huila Mágico 2026.

In the meantime, take a look at our previous editions on our Highlights!

Stay tuned!

🇨🇴 EVA IN COLOMBIA — A RECAP.

In early August, Eva (our Colombian sourcer, and much more) took a deep dive into our supply chain in Colombia. From the south of Huila to the hills of Antioquia, she visited producers, toured TCQ facilities, and cupped some unforgettable coffees.

Starting at Los Patios, our central wet mill in Huila, before heading into the field to meet Faiber at Finca La Holanda and Elmer at Finca Chambaku. From there, we travelled to Rionegro to visit our sister company, The Coffee Quest Colombia, where we toured the dry mill and cupped alongside the team.

The final stop was Finca Lomas de Nogosco in Fredonia — our model farm and research hub for regenerative agriculture and advanced processing.

Farm visits. Cuppings. New connections. Great conversations. That's what origin sourcing looks like.

🇨🇴 Colombia is part of our story.

It’s home to many of the producers we work with, to our colleagues and friends, and to a coffee community we care deeply about.

After the devastating earthquake in western Colombia, we wanted to do our part.

In that light, we at The Coffee Quest, as one global team across the US, Colombia, Europe, and Brazil, will be making a joint donation to World Central Kitchen, Cruz Roja Colombiana, and Presentes Corporación, supporting the people and communities working on the ground.

This is a small gesture, but it comes from a place of solidarity and gratitude for a country that has given us so much.

If you can, please consider supporting these organizations directly. Every contribution can help.

We stand with Colombia. 🇨🇴

We recently hosted our first-ever Mexico Cup of Excellence cupping, bringing together the community to discover some of the highest-scoring coffees.

It was an evening filled with exceptional cups, surprising coffees and plenty of conversations around the cupping table. The evening ended with some tacos and margaritas together. 🌮🍹

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special.

Until the next cupping! ☕️ by @thecoffeequest

🌱 QUALITY COFFEE DOESN'T BEGIN AT THE PORT.

It starts 30 centimeters underground.

For years, Colombian coffee farms have faced a slow decline. Exhausted soils. Rising input costs. Shrinking yields. And most advice farmers receive is tied to product sales... not to what their land actually needs.

The result? Smaller beans, inconsistent quality, and a supply chain under pressure on both ends.

This is the problem Ruta Regenerativa was built to solve.

🌿 WHAT IS RUTA REGENERATIVA?

A 2‑year initiative between The Coffee Quest and SoilBalance, working across 4 Colombian regions (Antioquia, Huila, Tolima, and Sierra Nevada) to regenerate coffee farms from the ground up.

Not through more inputs or another certification. But by correcting the root causes: the soil itself, and the quality of knowledge reaching the farmer.

🔬THE 5M MODEL

🧪 Minerals
🦠 Microbiology
🌾 Organic Matter
🌿 Mulch & Covercrops
📊 Monitoring

When these five align, the chain transforms: healthy soil → vigorous plants → strong beans → high‑quality coffee.

🏗️ HOW WE'RE BUILDING IT

We're establishing a 40+ lead farm network with biofertilizer units and enriched compost sites as living demonstration hubs. Neighbouring farmers learn by seeing and doing... not from a manual. A our team of trained agronomists carries the method forward.

Better farming delivers better coffee.
Better coffee builds a better supply chain.
And a better supply chain starts with the soil.

👉 Stay tuned for more on the 5M model in Fredonia, Antioquia!

🔍 Meet Lennart Reuber — a Master's student in Energy Science from the Netherlands who has spent the last two months in Santa María, Huila, building his research alongside producers in our network.

His thesis? Agrivoltaics in specialty coffee production. What if solar panels and coffee plants could share the same land — and both benefit from it?

It's a question barely anyone has explored. When Lennart started digging, he found only one project in the world had tried this combination. He's building the second.

It started years ago in an Amsterdam specialty café, where Lennart fell in love with coffee and the people behind it. That curiosity about the full value chain (from farm to cup) never left him. If you find his face familiar, it is because he used to be an Intern at our offices in Amsterdam!

When he pivoted from music management to energy science, he looked for a thesis that could bridge both worlds: technology and people, research and real farms.

He found that bridge at TCQ Colombia. We support all research that brings Added Value to the supply chain, and people like Lennart are always welcomed in our offices :)

Right now, he's in the field — visiting farms, interviewing producers, and working alongside our team in Huila to understand the real challenges before anything gets built.
