Met Gala 2025 gave me the intangible. It gave me affirmation, celebration, and elevation. I feel profound gratitude for this experience. For art. For blackness. For Silk & Sound. Thanks a million to @iamallenlouis & @domkelley for making this dream come true before I even had a chance to dream it. What you both poured into us in 72 hours is formative and everlasting. My life has changed. My heart beats a little stronger because of the love and admiration I have for yaw. SILK & SOUND: my silky silks. My new brothers. With yaw, I felt at home. The Met happening to us and us happening to The Met was easy and beautiful. Please continue running in purpose and uplifting and breaking barriers and making history. Love yaw down. Waitress happened. Our production was special and @tornsy18 had to have known it before it even unfolded. I believe that’s why she handled it all with intention and care. I’m grateful to have been chosen for this particular experience. This musical was a must for me bc ☝🏾 Sara B., and ✌🏾it just felt like somethin I needed to be apart of. Every professional musical I’ve done, I’ve portrayed or understudied clergy. During the table read, I discovered that this one was no exception; anointed with the role of Minister by glance. Fine lol. Life shifted and I was trusted to complete our run as Dr. Pomatter…a dream role, if one were to ask. I had a beautifully, endlessly talented blueprint. Now that we’ve closed and I survived, I can say without pause or doubt that it was my privilege. It was my privilege to honor my cast mate @noah.berry2, and it was my privilege to make history with @shespeaksmusic in this show and in this place and time. So very grateful.
