Some would say I am a lazy quilter, I have to correct them by showing them my efficiency method. Snippets and threads from hand appliqué and quilting go directly to the floor saving me time and excess movement. I then vacuum them up at the end of the day (or before anyone enters the room🙄) and then empty the filter every few days. I call that a time saver? How about you?😂

Sending my block off to @pamdorra for her fantastic quilt project. Can’t wait to see all the blocks assembled. I remember how exited I was to cast my first vote. I have never missed one since. These midterms are the most important ever!!

Working on something new and I’m having a heck of a time finding a simple blue chambray. I plan to do lots of hand quilted feathers and really don’t want to use one of the dozens of Lancaster blue prints I have because the quilting won’t show up well. There will be nine blocks in all and an outer border so I have plenty of time to find a background but…😬 I guess people don’t use chambray as much as they used to.😂

“My Birthday Wishes” 250 celebration quilt is finished. This will be a part of the Day of Peace celebration on September 20 at our state capital in Augusta as part of the @unitedwestitch250 movement. It took me so long to find my “quilting groove” for this project. I was happy to find @unitedwestitch250 to help me get my mojo!

Starting to quilt my semiquincentennial quilt. I just don’t have the same enthusiasm I had in 1976 when I made my bicentennial quilt. Maybe when I finish quilting it I’ll get the celebration mojo back.🤷🏻‍♀️

Time to get back to this project. I auditioned a few borders but finally decided on this one. I’ve been busy making the hexie blocks which are great for a summer travel project. Hope your summer is full of happy hand work as well!

I struggled for months trying to design a semiquincentennial quilt. My enthusiasm for this project fell to the point where I almost gave up. Then I decided to 1) make it like a birthday card with all the wishes I would want to give to Americans right now and 2) to keep it simple! So… I found this Uncle Sam panel, cut it up and chose the 7 most important (to me) things to focus on. Hope my enthusiasm doesn’t quit before I figure out how to quilt it.😂💙

Playing around with my basket of flowers idea. I like layout one and two. Which one do you like? My hexies measure 5/8” (along the side). I print a page full of hexies on old manila folders, cut them out and then punch a whole in the center for easy removal. I can use them about a dozen times before they wear out.
