A quick one. I was really surprised by how many people found this message helpful. I’ve tried to stop overthinking and just remind myself it may not always work, it won’t always feel easy but atleast it feels like I’m DOING.

This week alone I’ve had 23 children compete in a whole school borough dance competition, 2 author visits to schools welcoming their new reception cohort for September, reading my book to children who really were engaged and I’ve been a judge on a dance comp panel watching an amazing generation of future dancers!

The idea has been there for ages it’s just that I’ve decided to have a go. So as my little video says no matter how small the idea is just have a go

Last night was Croydon’s biggest dance competition of the school year. A team of 23 students who auditioned to be a part of our dance squad. 6 weeks of rehearsals and last night I once again was reminded exactly why I took a leap last year

EVERY child deserves the right to perform, to have have access to the arts and to stand on a stage in front of an audience who will cheer them on and make them feel like legends

EVERY child in this team comes from a different background, race, religion and none of it matters. I will empower them, support them and all I want is to continue to grow @thecreativespaceuk to be the doorway for all young people to see their inner super hero. I’m not trying to teach them to be professional performers (some of them will be) The Creative Space is to give them all the confidence through performing to achieve and believe in anything they want to do in life ❤️

A massive thank you to @hpakenley for all of their support and understanding how important the arts are in education

Have you ever felt too intimidated to join a dance class, held back by fears of being out of place or not being a 'natural' dancer?
I've been there too - even as a former professional dancer, I've experienced imposter syndrome and worried I wouldn't keep up.

That's why I'm on a mission to make dance more accessible and less intimidating. If you've ever hesitated to join a class, I'd love to hear from you - what's holding you back?

The creative space is here to break down barriers and build a community that makes dance a fun, feel-good experience for all. We are working on mental wellbeing, feeling good and being empowered
