Now that Iโ€™ve been on booksta for a while, and have had a chance to develop, I thought Iโ€™d refresh my personal star and spice rating system! โœจ I want to clarify that I do not post any reviews under 3.5 stars on Instagram! I want to keep this space positive and exciting, but I do post full reviews of ALL ratings on my Goodreads and Fable profiles! ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ #booksta #bookreview #starrating #spicerating #romancereader by @thecrownless

๐…๐š๐ฐ๐ง - ๐‚.๐. ๐•๐š๐ข๐ซ โœจโœจโœจโœจโœจโœจ Where to start with this oneโ€ฆ this book was increadible, sinister, and devastatingly haunting. I adored the way the story was written and the dark, uneasy Appalachian setting. The consistent background presence of the devil, as well as Tessโ€™ strife with the local church and some of the townsfolk, kept me thoroughly hooked. The feminine rage was woven into the story beautifully, and I loved seeing Tess slowly unravel throughout the story until the brilliant crescendo at the end. I adored all the religious symbolism and the themes of sacrifice, power, morality, but what hit me most was the way the story embraced the dark and monstrous, and showed that even things that everyone else fears and condemns can be beautiful and just as worthy of love as everything else. That little fawn sunk her teeth into my heart and just wouldnโ€™t let goโ€ฆ ๐Ÿฆท Iโ€™ve been in a reading slump for months now and I was worried I had lost that passion and feeling I used to get when I was so engrossed in a book, but Fawn was such a rejuvenating read that I genuinely didnโ€™t want to put it down or have it end! I didnโ€™t think Iโ€™d be this moved by a little folk horror book, but I already know this story is going to stick with me for a very long time. It gets infinite stars from me โœจ I will definitely be reading more from @cnvair ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ด ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜บ ๐˜ช๐˜ด ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ข๐˜ด โ€œ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜‹๐˜ฆ๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ญ ๐˜’๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ๐˜ด ๐˜๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜•๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆโ€ ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜œ๐˜š. photo credit goes to my love @mattcorner7 โ™ก by @thecrownless
๐ŸŒ™๐Ÿฆ‹ OF DUSK AND DAYBREAK ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒ™ Happy release day @author_k.r.fryatt โ™ก I couldn't resist ๐Ÿคฃ by @thecrownless
HAPPY RELEASE DAY @author_k.r.fryatt ๐ŸŒ™๐Ÿฆ‹ The first duology of this series is complete and what a duology it has been! I am in awe with @author_k.r.fryatt and her work. I think so often about her books. 'Of dusk and daybreak' is an absolute masterpiece! Thank you that you have me on your ST โ™ก Blurb: โ€œNight comes for the dusk and daybreak, their light both feast and ruin.โ€ After facing the horrors of her past and seizing the true power sheโ€™s denied for decades, Lunara the Moonweaver is forced to confront a harrowing realityโ€”the Shadow Prophecy is upon them at last, the malevolent doom foretold ages ago now wreaking its havoc across Bordoroth and the Five Realms, and she is the moth named in its riddled ramblings. The least of her worries. In the wake of Brandโ€™s rescue and subsequent betrayal, sheโ€™s consumed with a new nightmare her blessed, perfect mate has fallen to the shadowsโ€”and he doesnโ€™t know her at all. Desperate to save him, to save everyone, Lunara falls back on old habits. As the lies and secrets pile up, the weight of an entire world on her shoulders, she willingly spirals into her own sort of darkness, determined to find the answers they need at the cost of all elseโ€”her relationships, her responsibilities, even her very self. Anything, if it means having him back. Except treachery lurks at every corner, those they trusted proving false, and the cosmic power that could restore Brandโ€”gifted to her by the Sisters themselves, and honed by her unbreakable love for the Demon Sonโ€”might just be the thing that ends him instead. After all, what is dawn if not daybreak? Brimming with heartache, yearning, gut-wrenching twists, and edge-of-your-seat action, Of Dusk and Daybreak is the second book in The Towers of Bordoroth series, and the epic conclusion of Brand and Lunaraโ€™s sweeping love storyโ€”an intense and gripping third-person, multi-POV, character-driven romantasy featuring lyrical prose, immersive world-building, and intricate plot. I went into Winterโ€™s Teeth hoping for a bit of spooky Appalachia but got so much more in return. This book is filled with suspense, adventure, and mystery! I loved the way the story was framed around finding a missing person, with the creepy and supernatural elements built around it. I also genuinely adored the tense buildup to Rae finding out what was going on in the woods, and her switch to her villain era later on in the book. Fox was a great MMC, and getting to see him going from someone who had given up and was resigned to his fate, to the fierce protector of a girl who kept worming her way into his life was just ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ. Donโ€™t get me wrong though, Rae can absolutely take care of herself ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ I cannot wait to see where to this story goes, and how exactly Arthur and Everly fully play into it all. Thank you so much to R.A. The crimes committed in this story are horrific, so please do be wary of any triggers, but the story is written in such a way that shows varying and complex aspects of both morality and mortality, and how each individual can react so differently to both. I adored that the story was told in the form of a police interview process, and the slow reveal of everything that had gone on in the garden right up until the end. Maya was an excellent protagonist - she was so clever, and quite forthcoming while also managing to stay evasive and make us question her secrets and motives throughout. She really showed that no matter what background or awful situation you come from, you can still form your own path, choose your own family, show love, patience, and compassion, and absolutely flourish into a beautiful person. I would highly recommend this book to lovers of crime fiction, especially if you love darker and slightly more intense subject material! A fan of Criminal Minds and similar shows? This is the book for you! I read this back in July and still think about it daily, especially if I see a butterflyโ€ฆ ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ˜ณ by @thecrownless
โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ Fervor is my first @megsmitherman book, and I absolutely devoured it. This was a big mishmash of genres, but, weirdly, I thought it worked SO well! Meg managed to fit so much world building and story into such a small page count which absolutely floored me. I loved the eerie and tense atmosphere that the book had from start to finish, you really couldnโ€™t trust anyone. There was major cult imagery, and everything was very morally ambiguous! Midonia was an excellent FMC, and one I think a lot of women would be able to relate to. I loved the way she found her power, and donโ€™t even get me started on Anguish ๐Ÿ‘€ I had a very vivid picture of the world and everything in it, and my only wish would have been for the story to go on for longer! Though at the same time I absolutely adored that ending, it felt very powerful. I will definitely be picking up more Meg Smitherman books asap ๐Ÿ–ค by @thecrownless
