Save this! 📌 your Central Coast wedding skin prep checklist

Paso Robles summers are gorgeous, but they’re warm, dusty and outdoor-heavy. Here’s everything I tell my brides before their big day so their skin stays camera-ready from ceremony to last dance.

This woman made my job so easy! Days like today I really love what I do. I had so much fun with this woman and her daughter.

What if, for one day, you didn’t have to take care of anyone else?

No lunches to pack.
No appointments to make.
No one asking what they need.
No rushing through your own reflection before moving on to the next thing.

Just you.

You arrive, and someone takes care of you.

Hair and makeup.
A beautiful wardrobe.
Music, conversation, laughter.
Someone whose only job that day is to make you feel incredible.

And then you step in front of my camera.

Not to hide the things you wish were different.
Not because you’ve finally lost the weight.
Not because you’ve “earned” it.
Not because you have more money next year.
Not because someday, when life slows down, you’ll finally have time.

Now.

Because this woman—the one who has spent years showing up for everyone else—is already worthy of being celebrated.

And I want you to see what I see.

Your strength.
Your softness.
Your confidence.
Your beauty.
The woman you’ve become through all of it.

The ultimate gift isn’t the day of hair and makeup.

It isn’t even the photographs.

It’s the moment you see those images and think:

“Oh my God. That’s me.”

And realize that you’ve been seeing yourself through a much harsher lens than the rest of the world ever did.

These aren’t photographs for someday.

They’re a reminder for right now:

You matter.
You are beautiful.
You are worth taking care of.
And you don’t have to wait for a better version of yourself to be worthy of being seen.

Maybe it’s time to stop putting yourself last. #allysonmagdaphotography #40over40 #womenhelpingwomen #womenover35 taken in Paso Robles Lavender Co by @thecyranoeffect

Wish I had more than a lousy iPhone photo of this gal. Loved doing her makeup and hair for her headshots. #makeup #headshots #asianmakeup #lamakeupartist #naturalmakeup by @thecyranoeffect

NEWSFLASH:

DIRTY HAIR IS NOT EASIER TO STYLE

To get a lasting hairstyle, your artist needs clean, dry hair.

❌ do not arrive with dirty hair

❌ do not dry your hair 15 minutes before the stylist arrives. It will not be dry.

✅ wash your hair the night before or early in the morning before your artist arrives

✅ wash your hair twice lathering very well at the crown and down towards the neck.

✅ only apply conditioner on the ends of your hair.

✅ rinse well and when you think you have rinsed everything out, rinse again with ice cold water to close the cuticle and add shine

✅ make sure your hair is 100% dry. Curls will not hold if your hair still contains moisture

As an artist I always feel insecure. I always feel I could have done better.

It’s so wonderful to get reviews from my clients.
