The Decom Post is a free, independent community newspaper rooted in food sovereignty, ecological justice, and radical imagination. We honour Toronto’s local food providers, offering stories, reflections, and art that highlight just how our city’s food workers resist extractive global food systems through grassroots organizing and collective care.
Our first edition, Rot is Sweet, featured an interview with an independent farmer, explored the role of honey in immunity and gut health, and shared the history and philosophy of the Sikh “langar” or community kitchen. It aimed to show how a decaying global food system can still be fertile ground for something new.
With funding now secured for two more issues, we’re excited to expand our reach in 2025 through youth programming, community workshops, and new partnerships! by @thedecompost
