September is the design world’s start to the year, with events spanning over 10 countries just this month.

We start with @designmiami & @frieze.seoul in Seoul

@parisdesignweek starts on the 10th, and we will dive into our top exhibitions there, and for our preview we have included The Matter of Earth, an exhibition of Polish Collectible Design, by @visteria.foundation, and Metallic Reverie, a presentation by celebrated NYC designers @pelle______. We’ll post a larger guide to PDW soon.

Then we have @lakecomodesignfestival on the 12th, with beautiful contemporary installations throughout historical buildings. You can see more exhibitions there on TDR’s website.

And the 12th marks the start of @l_d_f_official in London, and @shoreditchdesignweek on the 15th.

We are proud media partners of Shoreditch Design Week’s inaugural edition under their new name, and we will include a larger LDF and SDW round up in a week.

In the meantime, our preview selections for what to see are exhibitions by contemporary galleries @maxradfordgallery & @slancha

Also in other news @isaloniofficial aka Milan’s trade show Salone presents a traveling exhibition of their permanent collection of works that launched at SaloneSatellite, a section established in 1998 to support young emerging designers, many of which who have gone on to have illustrious careers. The exhibition’s first stop is in Jakarta, opening on Sept 18.

And finally, on the USA side, friends of TDR @available_items present a new show in Tivoli, NY, a nature-readymade concept that looks fantastic.

And @demischdanant presents a Studio Visit-concept show in Manhattan.

Our newest Substack newsletter is out now where we preview the upcoming month in design, namely @parisdesignweek and London Design Festival (@l_d_f_official), and the inaugural @shoreditchdesignweek, taking place during LDF.

If you’re in Seoul for @frieze.seoul and @designmiami we also recommend visiting @so_koizumi_design’s exhibition taking place then.

We also spotlight two exhibitions showcasing collectible design in an outdoor setting, Don’t Call Me Collectible! taking place in a villa in Tuscany, by @vestigiacollectible, and Verdant Phenomena, taking place in interior and architecture studio @_the.bureau_’s founder’s Sonoma garden.

Finally, @innenkreis, a newer design gallery, launches two new exhibitions in their Copenhagen space.

Don’t Call Me Collectible! examines the increasingly blurred territory between contemporary design, art, sculpture, and high-end craftsmanship. As collectible design has gained greater visibility within the market, the exhibition asks what we are actually looking at when we encounter these objects: investment pieces, functional works, or the material result of ongoing research and experimentation.

We’ve been quiet because it’s summer baby! There is barely anything going on and thank god because this year’s travel was insane and we needed to recover 😌☀️

But we are here to save you from any potential end of summer ennui or cultural withdrawal!

August is the time for @villanoailles the excellent design festival in Hyères, in the south of France, and at the end of the month, Helsinki’s design week begins @helsinkidesignweek which features a fantastic array of exhibitions around the city, including one at @artek2ndcycle which we have been dreaming of visiting.

Many more exhibitions are up on TDR’s calendar, linked in bio, and we are almost finished uploading all of the 2027 major fairs for those planning their year of design travel.

Copenhagen might be the most productive design week on the calendar right now.

I came to 3daysofdesign with two perspectives.

Rarely does one event work equally well for both. Copenhagen did.

It has the B2B usefulness of a trade show. It was walkable, human-scaled, full of real conversations, and genuinely useful for meeting brands, makers, dealers, reps, and owners.
