Year 10 | The Last Step

Ten years ago, I stepped into higher education believing I could make a difference. Looking back, I’m grateful for every student conversation, every late night, every challenge, every celebration, and every opportunity to walk alongside students as they discovered who they were becoming.

Student development has never just been about programs, policies, or events—it has always been about helping people realize their potential, navigate life’s transitions, and believe in themselves even when they couldn’t yet see what was possible.

I am thankful for every student, colleague, mentor, and friend who has been part of this journey and helped shape the leader I am today. taken in Arkansas State University by @thedoctorjayy

It’s something about being around strong student affairs practitioners that remind you why you are committed to this work! Thankful to be able to be apart of NASPA’s 2026 Institute For Aspiring Vice Presidents of Student Affairs in Denver, CO! This experience has allowed me to not only make connections but supply me with information for my future goals!

Most practitioners leave this program to become VPSA’s in which they have a 90 percent rate. Unfortunately I had to leave because of weather back home but I’m excited to apply the things I’ve learned to my current work as I continue to build toward my future! taken in Denver, Colorado by @thedoctorjayy
