One thing I was gonna do with my last maternity leave was take advantage of the chance to travel!

When I first met my husband he worked as a travel journalist and I'd just started work as a doctor and finally had some funds to channel my wunderlust. We had some amazing trips as a couple, and I was determined that when we had a family we would still enjoy exploring the world.

If you like the idea of travelling with kids but are nervous or you are fellow travellers and would love to share tips, please join me. I'm determined to keep showing my beautiful children how fun exploring the world can be.

If that sounds like you, tell me where you’ve loved travelling, or where you’re hoping to go next? 🌎 by @thedoctormummy

Last Friday on #internationaldayofthegirl, we welcomed our own little girl into our hearts.

She was born in the pool at home, surrounded by love and support from my husband and my amazing midwifery team who I am keeping forevermore.

Her brothers came down just in time to meet her, but decided that Mama was too noisy. They did come straight back in afterwards and her eldest brother proudly cut the cord. They have been so amazing with her.

My heart has never been so full, our family is complete and I'm overwhelmed with gratitude. My body is recovering from yet another hyperemesis pregnancy, the anxiety of pregnancy after loss and of course...Birth!

Thank you to everyone who offered love and support this year. My social media activity has been limited whilst in survival mode but lots of people have had my back.

who joined us for the birth, it was a dream of mine to be able to look back and see my birth one day. I've followed and chatted to Sadie for years and her talent and passion are unmatched.

Dear Black women and people ,

You deserve better. You're 40% more likely to have a miscarriage than white women. You're 4-5 times more likely to die in pregnancy and in the first year after. You're more likely to have a premature baby. And those are just for starters.

You deserve a forcefield of positivity around you during pregnancy, not scary stats and unclear plans. You deserve not to be labelled as high risk without an explanation of what we're doing to reduce that risk. I want your pregnancy to be consumed with growing a baby and nurturing yourself. Not consumed by fear.

There are amazing compassionate people working within early pregnancy and maternity. But we can still be better. Research needs to be more inclusive, racial bias needs to be confronted and not minimised.

I am not an authority on miscarriage and I'd never want to pretend to speak for all Black women. Your stories are yours.

My pregnancy losses were devastating and relatively recent. I am incredibly lucky to now have a baby, but I will never forget the babies who aren't here.

My aim today was to advocate loudly for Black women. I really hope I did us proud. Sending so much love to anyone who is a member of this rubbish club.

Welcome to the first support group for those of us being terrorised by a toddler

I'm glad my home girl @msrachelforlittles isn't scared of big feelings. I am not so brave 🫣. My daughter has very big feelings 😶‍🌫️

I can do hard things, but negotiating with a fearless agent of chaos who is fuelled by milk and the need to DO IT MYSELF MAMA is not for the weak.

I'm not a newbie. I've done this twice before. But the whiplash I have this week from trying to keep up with her is wild.

Next meeting is tomorrow. Bring snacks. Don't tell the toddler. She has an eye for the good stuff and she won't share.

Are you a toddler tamer? What's your secret?

It's that time again!

10 years into being here and so much has changed. I've gone from being newly pregnant with my first child, to now being a mama of 3.

The highs of growing our family, travelling, and doing a career I love have been fantastic. The lows of hyperemesis, sub fertility and pregnancy loss have been devastating and I'll never shy away from that.

Balancing NHS life with raising a family has been a lot

Who knows what the next chapter holds! If you're new here then welcome and if you're an oldie then thank you for being here!

I'd love to hear how you found me 🥰

A birthday fit for a princess!

My daughter was two last weekend and I wanted to make her something special to commemorate. She is obsessed with sesame Street and I've had this fabric stashed away for years. I actually started a different pattern but found the instructions so confusing that I had to bail.

When I googled to try and find alternative instructions the only thing I found was a link to an old post that I'd done which told me everything I needed to know.

On my lunch break at work I saw that @violettefieldthreads had just released a new pattern (the lilibet blouse) which looked perfect. I even managed to use the pieces from my first attempt to make it work. They have such lovely designs and the instructions were great!

The tutu was a beautiful hand-me-down and I'm disappointed it doesn't come in my size.

I always have to pause during baby loss awareness month.

It feels wrong not to acknowledge it because it's so important. But for many it can be a painful reminder of what could have been.

I'm incredibly grateful to be an ambassador for @tommys, and I also sit on their research group, which helps inform future research and practice. It's a huge practice.

My experiences are in no way unique. But I hope that by talking about it we can remove some of the stigma, push for better care and better support for those who may be working and living with the legacy of baby loss.

Always open to hearing others experiences, and sending love of this month is hard for you. by @thedoctormummy

My beautiful baby girl is 2 🥹

I always knew someone was missing even though everything on paper said we should have been done.

But as soon as she was born (I couldn't believe she was here until then) I knew I was done. Our family was complete.

I wonder if she knows how adored she is. If you could bottle that feeling and sell it as strength it would be so powerful.

As a child if I could have created a picture perfect life, it would look like hers. I just have to hope we can give her what she needs so that she can say the same one day.

Likkle but she tallawa

Happy birthday TWO you my baby and happy international day of the girl!

Best part of my birthday trip?

🍽️ The food? Amazing, I adore tapas and fresh seafood is always worth it
🍹 The cocktails? Loved them, Pina coladas never go out of fashion for me
🫂 The company? Sublime - celebrating 10 years of friendship and motherhood is worthy of a holiday
💤 The 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep?
😴 9 HOURS OF UNINTERRUPTED SLEEP! 😴

I haven't slept like that since before I had kids, 10 years ago!

This is now a mandatory annual event. I'm already excited about next year's sleep h̶o̶l̶i̶d̶a̶y̶!

Where shall we go next year?
