If you know the Providence cocktail scene, then you surely know Michael Silva. His contributions via @baspvd @thedeanbar and the eddy are just small tokens of the dedication and love for his craft.

Michael joined us at the eddy just before I (Britt) left for maternity leave in early 2025 to fill in the gaps I’d leave in the schedule. By the time I returned, he’d made himself such a fixture that Jen and I made sure we secured a permanent spot for him by rejiggering the entire schedule to accommodate him. Hands down, the best decision we’d made in a while.

If you know Michael, you know his laughter. It’s roaring, boisterous, and fills the room. So when he let us all know that he’d eventually be leaving Providence to fulfill familial obligations on the West Coast, the first thing we thought about was how barren the place would feel without his laughter.

As we approach his final few shifts, do your best to keep this king cackling. It has been an honor and a privilege to watch Michael grow, thrive, and continue to rack up successes over the last two years. From fatherhood to @cocktailapprenticeprogram to @camp_runamok and all of the representation at conferences and gatherings in between, this man has left a permanent mark on the Rhode Island bar industry.

Needless to say, we’ll miss him like hell.

A few months back we had the absolute delight of bringing @minitamale on staff. She busted out of the gate with this perfect collins, a taste of home, inspired by a dish called pepián.

Guys it’s an actual SPRING WEATHER DAY.

To bridge the gap between the worst blizzards on record a few months back and blistering 90 degree heat we’ve experienced already (in mid MAY?) we are showcasing this hitter.

Hear ye, hear ye, there is now a whole beautiful lineup of new seasonal drinks at @theeddybar in downtown Providence, RI! The Eddy is such a classic PVD cocktail spot and we’re always excited to try whatever is new on their menu.

Some spring drink favorites:

Gardenheir - Once we read the words “sugar snap pea infused peloton mezcal” we knew this drink would be bright, smoky, and go down all too easily

Lemon Meringue - Sweet, citrusy, and silky (we adore frothy eggwhite in any drink), this just might be our favorite drink of the spring

Outbound - Vanilla! Orange! Allspice! This cocktail is somehow both warming and invigorating

As many of you know, we change our menu seasonally here at the eddy — occasionally, we find something that really knocks it out of the park and tends to linger on the menu longer than most. Almost always, that’s the tequila drink. That said, this drink may just have to trickle into summer — we know that’s a few months away, but we’re just manifesting warm weather. Doors at 4.

This past week, our very own @michaelknows_ traveled to DC to compete in @chocolate.citys.best first-ever Future Giants competition and brought home 2nd place among some of the most talented bartenders in the country.

Shortly after this guy placed, he thanked our team for the role we’ve played in his journey. While we’re incredibly grateful for the love, the truth is we’re just lucky to have a front-row seat as he continues to grow. Watching our team push themselves, support each other, and chase big moments like this is exactly why we do what we do.

This bar has always been a bit of a revolving door [in the best way] drawing in truly incredible talent that lingers for many years, evolving and growing among one another. When we had the chance to bring Michael aboard, we jumped at the opportunity to watch him to flourish and hone his craft.

Michael has been a constant: thoughtful, driven, generous with his craft, and someone who makes our entire team better. And how could we leave out his infectious, well-timed laughter. We’re so proud of you, Michael. This is only the beginning for you!🍸 by @theeddybar

It’s a somber day for our community. This devastating act of violence will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on our state, our city, our home.

Our hearts are with the victims, students, educators, families, and all community members affected by this horrific tragedy. This little bar will open its doors at 4 p.m. today as a safe haven for our community to gather, mourn, and hold space for the difficult conversations that must happen to create meaningful change.
