For dolo, for dough … J. Kergylle (@TheeDeaconBlu / Mssr Got Kinda Lost) is hummin’ comin’ at’cha one more ‘gen, this time out Bridgeport way at the lovely lair called @CharisListeningBar, for my inaugural frame up. Get the picture… Catch me from 8p-Close this very Saturday (10/3)…

Rhythms Of Life—named from earth-shaking grooves by Mike Lundy, James Mason, et al.—is genre agnostic, centered on what makes the leg/heart/brain axis move absentmindedly, intrinsically. The traditions of the African musical diaspora, international permutations of the funk, psychedelia, and more, are alive and well within the Rare Grooves and jazzy, spiritual vibrations transmitted by the Rhythms Of Life selectors, with Jazz-Funk, that good groove, and early Jazz Fusion (before it’s navel-gazing codification) as their core. Rhythms Of Life is an all-vinyl listening experience brought to you by the twin forces of music industry maven J. Kergylle (The Conservatory Vintage & Vinyl/@ConservatoryShop, @GotKindaLost Records, @NTS_Radio) and internationally-renown jazz bassist Junius Paul (International Anthem Records/@IntlAnthem, Art Ensemble Of Chicago, @MakayaMcCraven, etc.), operating together and apart. Do digs into
the vibes (… vibrations) now and then…

This dim it’s maiden voyage times for Planet Fever in the cozy confines of Pilsen‘s (relatively) new punk-inspired bar @NewRoseChicago—for the first time of a hopeful many in this Damned referencing paradise. I’ll be runnin’ all 45rpm #vinyl selections from 9pm-1am on this very fine night of April 26th, servin’ up pre-codified #Punk, Proto-Punk, Junkshop Glam, real-deal Rock’n’Roll, Power Pop, Bubblegum Music, ‘70s Rock, and more… do drop on in for a few spins.

The big holes that control is the role for this day and time, dug from the archives of @GotKindaLost Records Founder/All-Arounder & Vinyl Sales Specialist at The Conservatory Vintage & Vinyl (@ConservatoryShop), Master J. Kergylle.

Additionally, I Am/I Be Returning next month (May 17th), more on that later…

Demon Wind (1990)

Recommended if you dig your B-grade horror with a heavy dose of supernatural thriller; striking/arresting/moody/menacing imagery from a talented DP (…Director of Photography, sicko) and location scout; a somewhat nebbish James Spader stand-in; the golden age of practical effects; demons with melting faces (a far cry from angels with dirty faces); demons with beautiful t*ts; an acrobatic sequence of kick the can by a karate expert magician (I said what I said… see prior post); an ‘80s jock-douche prototype getting ‘fingered’ to death; unexplained clairvoyance; surprise aliens; a Raimi’esque/Three Stooges-inspired sight gag or two; 7 Sacred Daggers; nested dreams; El Diablo getting kicked in the nards and the irony of him being ‘un-alived’ by cascading flames. taken in Chicago, Illinois by @theedeaconblu
