had the pleasure of seeing the FADE (2026) exhibit at the @studiomuseum in harlem, capturing spirituality, ancestry, and surrealism through black contemporary art. the word FADE has many meanings, but in this context, it is seen as a way for artists to revisit their ancestral lineage through abstract forms. This exhibition was beyond beautiful; reminded me so much of my home and my Nigerian background & i wanted to show y’all my favorite pieces 💐♥️ #studiomuseum

the stage: he that leaves me blue, a dream, 2026
London Pierre Williams @londonpierrewilliams

If im being honest, this one was on of my favorites pieces in the exhibit. Looking at this, I immediately thought about one of my favorite documentaries “”Paris is burning”. This piece depicts the duality of the queer black man, ignoring the stigma that queer black men only have one archetype. This portrays how the butch queen can embody both masculine and feminine characteristics.

kazi zetu, 2026
Malaika Temba @mvtemba

This was also one of my favorites, even though this portrayed life in Tanzania, it reminded me of when I back home to Nigeria in 2008. Being a little girl witnessing how life is in Nigeria truly is, how busy the market could be, seeing how everyone is just trying to survive. It’s beauty to it, but there is also awareness to it. Seeing that the real image of the Nigerian market and how survival is the main priority.

get me bodied, 2023
Shani Strand @foxybrownfastcar

Such a beautiful piece!! Especially the way they incorporated REAL human teeth! I had to wipe my eyes and read it again lol. It reminded me of the Nigerian masquerades I saw growing up, specifically from where my mother is from, Anambra state.

Sink belly, 2025
Kiah celeste @kiah.celeste

Truly loved the colors, and the fact that they used spandex to resemble a human navel. Crazy how the artist found these random pieces in her studio, and it turned out being a significant abstract piece. loved it!

Travel tight and close; keep your brother in your hand, 2024

when God gives you a sign, you have no choice but to trust Her.

two months ago, i had a dream where I was being told to “go.. get out of here!”, it didn’t matter where just go. i didn’t know exactly what that meant at the time but deep down i knew what God was trying to tell me. so without hesitation, i impulsively booked a random flight to Guatemala without knowing where I was going to live, who I was going to meet… i didn’t know anything. all i knew is that i was going to Guatemala for a month, and i don’t regret it. it was truly one of the best trips i’ve ever had. from the adventures, to the amazing souls i’ve met along the way, to the yummy food, to ME CLIMBING A DAMN VOLCANO! i don’t regret anything.

i’m thankful for every experience.
