✨Meet a 2026 Finals Judge ✨

Kim Vatter Boeving is a native Memphian, and her love of the Arts began at an early age. She started singing and dancing at age 6, continuing this formal training until the age of 21. She competed in many local competitions over the years, namely the Mid-South Fair Youth Talent Contest where she was a multi-finalist & sweepstakes winner.

Kim graduated from Germantown High School after extensive involvement in Frank Bluestein’s nationally acclaimed theater and television production department. She was one of 11 students chosen to travel to Austria for a 3-week intensive Theater Arts Camp, had roles in several productions, and received a scholarship from the program that was applied to her college career.

After graduation Kim worked as a lead singer/dancer at Libertyland Theme Park in Memphis for 3 summers, which received IAPPA awards during those years. She began her college journey in the dance department at University of Memphis, but shifted after attaining a spot in the full-tuition scholarship for vocal/instrumental group Sound Fuzion. Kim was given numerous opportunities to perform with incredible artists such as Booker T. Jones and for the Freedom Awards honoring Oprah Winfrey.

Upon graduation, worked at a local Domestic Violence shelter and then in Physical Therapy for 4 years. While she loved helping people, she could not ignore her passion for the Arts. She was the dance director at Germantown Baptist from 2007-2013 and then began teaching voice at a local studio for a decade before becoming at stay-at-home-mom to her incredible kiddos, Evelyn & Jude (and 4 legged child, Otto).

Currently Kim works at Harvest Church as their Worship Associate, sings on the worship team and heads various aspects of women’s & PDO music ministries there. She’s part of an Americana band (Bryan Hayes & the Retrievers), recently sang with Drew Holcomb at the 75th anniversary for Young Life, opened for Don McLean (Bye Bye Miss American Pie) at Graceland, records for several local artists in her spare time and gets to open up for Lecrae next week with Harvest Collective!

✨Meet a 2026 Finals Judge✨

From Iowa City with a ticket for the long way round, this journey of singing and songwriting all started with a three-year old’s very first performance on a St. Louis stage in 1987.

But in truth, her Momma said she came out singing, having memorized over 40 children’s songs before she was even two! At 15, she wrote her very first song, and she’s been performing ever since.

In 2008, she married her first love, Jeffrey Matlock, and they have four beautiful kids. In 2009, she joined her very first band, The Breakeven Band, in Orlando, Florida, then moved to Memphis in 2011 and co-founded Thumpdaddy, a high-energy party band, in 2014.

In 2020 at Supernova Sound with Producer Dave Cowell, Shara took her first steps as a true recording artist and began work on what she’s referring to as ‘the first ones’ and has woven the full spectrum of human emotion into these songs, describing them as ‘real, raw & catchy’ and has released two singles, “Christmastime” & “Close” with hopes to complete the project, vinyl and all, by the end of 2026. She’s tasteful pop with an occasional twang dipped in soul sauce. Her influences are none other than the divas of 90’s/ ‘00’s pop- Celine, Whitney, Mariah, and Christina.

Around the Memphis area you can catch her in Thumpdaddy, in an Acoustic Duo with Sky King, & with Sky and Ethan Baker in Honeysuckle South, as well as hosting her Songwriters’ Showcase Competition held at Lafayette’s Music Room.

Original music coupled with live performance has an incredible ability to influence, connect, and empower, and that’s just what she aspires to do with every song she writes and Showcase she hosts.

“Fall in love, chase dreams, support others as you go, and never never give up. You’re so close, and you’re gonna be great!”
