Waking up to world and national news….

What can I say? It can be defeating and disheartening.

I’ve learned that the most powerful thing we can do is take care of our internal landscape, the world we are each creating.

Where is there a war within?

Where are we holding resentment?

What is divided in our heart and mind?

That is how we can made a difference and bring more peace to the World.

Once we hold greater peace within ourselves, within our families, teams, and communities, we are making the greatest contribution we can.

Being the Change!

It’s not easy…

Yet, it’s definitely worth it.

Soul much love,

Mena

Ps: My heart is full knowing that we will gather in community this Friday! It’s already a magical group of beings. 🙌🏼💫

Can’t wait to see who else is a YES for it. Check bio link 🔗

Sometimes creating what’s next isn’t about fighting what is, it’s about finding the opening. ✨

In this episode of Soul Stories with Jill, Mena Teijeiro shares her journey from life in Miami to creating The Florrest, a 153-acre leadership sanctuary in rural Georgia.

Through unexpected change, resistance, and plenty of unknowns, Mena discovered a powerful philosophy she calls “Breathing Through the Cracks” reclaiming the energy we spend fighting what we can’t change and using it to create what’s calling us forward.

🎙️ Breathing Through the Cracks: Creating What’s Next Without Fighting What Is

Are we trying to become resilient… and that’s it? What if resilience is only the midpoint?

There’s a lot of talk about building resilient people, organizations, and communities, and for good reason. Resilience gives us the capacity to withstand disruption, recover, adapt, and continue.

But then what are we becoming resilient enough to create?

The point isn’t for our strongest and most caring people to become extraordinarily good at carrying more and more.

What if resilience is here to help us create capacity?

Capacity to rest. To enjoy our lives. To use our gifts where they are most valuable. To contribute without chronically depleting ourselves. To be with the people we love. To have space for relationships, curiosity, and experiences that expand us.

This is part of what The Florrest exists to hold space for.

A place to step away from the constant doing long enough to reconnect with ourselves, nature, and each other.

Not so we can simply return to our lives ready to carry more.

But so we can hear what matters, restore our capacity, strengthen our connections, and create from a more resourced place.

Because resilient communities aren’t only communities that can withstand challenges.

They can also be communities where giving and receiving coexist. Where collaboration makes our individual efforts lighter rather than heavier. Where rest, joy, connection, and contribution belong together.

Resilience can’t be the destination. That would be exhausting.

It can be the foundation from which we create lives, organizations, and communities where people have enough life available to them that their gifts naturally overflow into the world.

That’s the kind of resilience we’re interested in cultivating here. 🌿

What if trust can be accelerated?

Today I attended CREATE, Cultivating Resilient Entrepreneurs and Transforming Economies, hosted by Georgia Power’s Economic Development team at Middle Georgia State University.

One theme especially caught my attention: trust.

Trust between founders and investors. Trust with clients. Trust between the people building something together.

We often think trust simply takes time. And yes, it does.

But I believe we can create conditions that allow trust to deepen more quickly.

When we step outside our usual environments, slow down, become present, reconnect with ourselves and nature, and have space to genuinely connect with one another, something shifts.

We see the human beyond the role.

When people feel connected and safe with one another, collaboration changes.

We can share ideas more freely, take risks, navigate disagreement, innovate, and build together.

This is a big part of what I’m passionate about creating at The Florrest: the conditions for deeper human connection that strengthen trust, make meaningful collaboration possible, and expand our collective impact.

Last year, I had the opportunity to join one of the CREATE panels and share some of my experience building The Florrest. It was a pleasure to be back this year, reconnect with people I met then, and continue being part of these conversations, and of creating the bridges and spaces where conversation becomes connection, collaboration, and collective impact.

Every experience I’ve ever created has taught me something.

Not always what I expected.
Not always what felt comfortable.
But always exactly what I needed to become who I am now.

The souls who have walked through The Florrest, who slept here, sat in circle here, cried here, laughed here, transformed here, you didn’t just receive something from this place.

You gave me something too.🌹

You gave me the lived experience of knowing what works and what doesn’t.
What a container needs to hold people well. What happens when structure is missing and what becomes possible when it’s there. You reflected back to me where I was still growing as a leader, as a facilitator, as a woman building something that has to match the depth of what I stand for.

I didn’t always have the words for it then.

I do now.

What I’m building at The Florrest has always been about one thing: helping people return to themselves so they can lead, create, and live from overflow rather than depletion.

That was true in the beginning.

It’s more true now than ever.

The difference is that now the container matches the calling.

If you’ve been here… thank you! You are woven into everything this place has become and everything it’s still becoming.

If you’ve been watching from a distance, wondering what The Florrest is now.

This is the invitation to find out. Send me a DM and let’s talk.

Unrestrained joy has a place in this world.

Maybe now more than ever.

In the middle of so much noise, pressure, division, uncertainty, and constant stimulation, there is something deeply healing about humans gathering together to laugh, celebrate, connect, soften, and fully arrive in the present moment.

Grateful to witness the beautiful gathering facilitated by @nuriamcgrath , her team and chef @myvegankitchenlife this weekend at The Florrest.

We all get to lead from a more grounded, embodied, and genuine joy.

Not as avoidance nor performance.

As remembrance of our birthright.

Joy is not superficial.
True Joy is medicine.

Joy reconnects people to life, to each other, and to what is still possible.

The more embodied and genuine that joy becomes, the more it spreads beyond the people experiencing it.

It ripples outward.💫

Grateful to steward spaces where people can return to themselves, reconnect with others, and remember their humanity together.

Safe travel home 🙌🏼💫

Yesterday, I hosted a leadership team connection at The Florrest.

This was beyond slides, without pressure to perform, and without forced conversations.

It was a space to slow down, reconnect with themselves, nature, and each other, and experience the team beyond roles.

What happens in a setting like this is simple but powerful.

People come back to themselves, and from there, how they relate to each other and lead changes.

You can see it in how they listen, how they show up, and how they connect.

In our final circle, someone asked me if they were more positive.

I explained that it is not about being more positive. It is about capacity.

The capacity to be present, to feel what we usually avoid, to listen to each other, and to include each person’s gifts.

It is also the capacity to have honest conversations when something needs realignment.

This is what creates real shifts in how teams work together and how they lead.

This is part of the work I guide at The Florrest.

If you lead a team or want to bring your team to The Florrest, send me a DM.

Yesterday morning, my awareness was drawn to the edge of the forest.👁️🌲

At first, I thought they were turkeys!

Then, I noticed shorter necks and a different presence.

They were turkey vultures!

In almost six years on this land, I had never seen them here.

These birds are powerful composters for the Earth.♻️🌎

Often misunderstood and met with fear!
“Esos buitres!! Que asco!” I can hear distantly in my memories as a child.

Yet, essentially they are transmuters of what is complete, returning it back into life!! What a gift! It requires such strength and resilience.

Their presence felt deeply aligned with these final weeks of the Snake year. A season of letting go, shedding, and composting what no longer belongs.

It is preparing for the change ahead as we move toward February 17 and the New Fire Horse year.🔥🐎

The Florrest is a living ecosystem… A place where listening matters. Deeply! Where honoring all cycles and all beings is part of the relationship.

Leadership requires the capacity to see clearly and stay in relationship with what we see.

When we listen, life regenerates.
From that coherence, it thrives.

Don’t rush these weeks. Allow the medicine of nature to hold you.

This week, tending to the land created art!❄️

Water was left flowing so a pipe would not freeze and bust.

Overnight, ice formed in unexpected ways!

Some froze into the shape of grass blades,
delicate and precise.

Another section became sharp and transparent, edgy and crystalline.

One area softened into round, cloudy forms, like enormous frozen clouds resting on the ground.

Same water.
Same cold.
Various expressions!

Presence creates conditions
for beauty, clarity, and alignment to emerge.

From this field, different expressions unfold:

Teams and businesses come to realign
presence, coherence, and impact.

Wellness circles come to deepen embodiment and awaken leaders from the inside out.

Different doorways.
Same field.

You don’t come to @theflorrest to do more.
You come here to remember how to Be. Together.

Rest.
Awaken.
Thrive.
