Healthcare is Quietly Making a Comeback, & Here’s Why.

As sentiment cools in tech, capital is finding refuge in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

On August 5, Reuters reported that the S&P 500 Healthcare Index had risen 11.2% over the preceding three months, outperforming the broader S&P 500.

Recession proof demand, an ageing population, attractive valuations and constant medical innovation make the sector an increasingly interesting defensive play.

Of course, patent cliffs, failed clinical trials and government intervention remain risks. Proper analysis of each company should always be done before investing into new companies.

Is Anthropic giving us the Halloween scaries?

AI had been dominating the stock market up until this year when many companies like CoreWeave took dramatic tumbles. CoreWeave saw a 41 per cent drop in share price since October 6.

Anthropic however, seems to be feeling bullish on their outlooks as they unveiled their pitch for a listing. The AI company, who developed Claude, is making a move toward IPO.

The concern is, statements in Anthropic’s corporate SEC filing have stated: “As our models become more capable, they have become better able to circumvent such techniques, including by concealing misaligned objectives or behaviors, and the effectiveness of our evaluation, monitoring, and control measures, and our ability to measure the degree to which our models are aligned, may decline as a result.”

With their own mechanism able to manipulate results and conceal misaligned objectives, is this AI company really operating within the best interests of the general public?

Will this hinder the companies future growth? Will these safety issues be the needle to officially burst the AI bubble to smithereens? Is AI still a good investment?

For Better or For Worse?

¾ of the diamond mines along Canada’s world famous ice highway have closed with the fourth preparing to close.

The over supply of mined stones combined with the surge in popularity of lab grown stones have attributed to the weakening diamond market.

With the current economy on the outs, will natural diamonds ever make a comeback, or is the luxury item officially a thing of the past?

Natural diamond prices have dropped between 30%-50% in the last few years on top of having a next to nothing resale value.

Personally, I’d hold off on purchasing unless the value in it for you is strictly sentimental.
