I've had enough. After years of investing my time, money, & creativity into @facebook & @instagram, I've decided to move my social media to @thefotoapp. I've spent years building an audience of nearly 10,000 followers. I've spent thousands on ads to grow that audience. Yet the people who CHOSE to follow me may never see my work. Let that sink in. People followed me because they wanted to see my pics. Why should a platform decide whether they're allowed to? I'm tired of spending 2 or 3 hrs. producing a Reel, editing every detail, only for it to reach a fraction of my intended audience. I'm tired of curating Carousels while wondering whether they're even worth posting unless I collaborate with others. When did sharing photographs become a game of pleasing an algorithm? Then there's the advertising. I've already invested thousands in growing my audience, yet boosting posts increasingly feels like paying a toll just to reach the people who already follow me. Advertising has its place. But paying for visibility shouldn't feel like the price of admission. Here's the other thing: I'M A PHOTOGRAPHER. I love creating photographs. Instagram built its identity around photography, only to increasingly prioritize video to compete for attention. I understand the business reasons, but photographers shouldn't have to become video creators just to remain visible. Video is for @youtube. Photography is my passion. Enter Foto. A photography-focused platform with a chronological feed, no algorithm deciding the order of your posts, no video, & Portfolios that let photographers mirror their websites through curated galleries. No chasing trends. No turning every photograph into a Reel. No trying to reverse-engineer an algorithm just to share my work. Is Foto perfect? Not yet. But its philosophy aligns with the way I believe photography should be shared. To my fellow photographers, wedding vendors, collaborators, clients, friends, & family: I'd love for you to join me there. I'm not giving up on sharing my work. I choose where it belongs. When hosting the photo walk on behalf of @thefotoapp two weeks ago, along side my DSLRs I took my 1976 Yashica mat 124 along with me, armed with some @ilfordphoto HP5 120mm film. I still love shooting film and the really enjoy the texture , I’m also pleased with the double exposure on frame one which makes an interesting frame. i applied on a whim, with no real expectations, and somehow ended up with a story i didn’t see coming.♡ what started as a simple “why not?” turned into something i didn’t expect. getting featured on Manila Events, seeing so many people show up, and actually being the one to lead the walk felt a little surreal. I know photo walks might be a usual thing for some, but for me, this one was a big deal. It was my first time hosting, meeting new people, sharing something I love, and just having fun with people who came together because of photography. I was honestly a little nervous, but more than anything, I was happy. happy to meet everyone, make new memories, and see people show up for something i got to put together. You might have just come for a walk and some photos, but you became part of a first that meant a lot to me. 🥹 and of course, thank you, foto app, for giving me this opportunity. still a little crazy to think that a random application turned into an experience like this. sometimes, you really just have to put yourself out there and see where things take you. ✳ #fotowalk2026 #fotoapp #streetphotography #marikina taken in Marikina by @thefotoapp

So, I took a walk… a photo walk! I had so much fun meeting so many amazing photographers and trying out a different photography style! All of these were taken on film with my Canon Rebel GII and a 24-70mm 2.8 lens. To be honest, shooting in film scares me because I have no clue what I’m doing, but I really love these shots! This event added some fuel to my photography passion and has left me thinking about more ways I can build community with fellow creatives. I tagged some of them in this post! Please support them! (And, if I missed you, comment so everyone can support you!) Big shoutout to @geebes2112 and @thefotoapp for getting us all together! I had so much fun! taken in Spokane, Washington by @thefotoapp

A bit of nuanced perspective and play of ideas along the streets of Marikina. Despite being in the same time and place with a bunch of photographers, iba iba pa rin talaga ang kuha. Kung saan mo talaga tinutok ung camera mo, ibig sabihin may pake ka don. It was fun seeing other’s angles. Thanks to @_ave_______ for leading the @thefotoapp walk (photowalk). by @thefotoapp
