I miss my abuela, my tias, my papi and all of the family that I’ve lost along the way. But it’s so amazing to be able to take what I learned from them and our Latino culture, our immigrant experience, and their style and use that as inspiration for many of the products I art direct. Our most popular Cafecito mug came to life thinking about my childhood spent around women. My love for pop culture comes from my aunt whose house was filled with celebrity gossip rags and was always on top of the chisme. I don’t know why I’ve been feeling so nostalgic for them lately. Maybe it’s because I want to turn to them for guidance. I’m just grateful I can honor them in this way. This lamp just took me to my grandmother’s house.
